Rofl FFC you are pathetic you are not even a Manchester United fan. You post all this crap about portuguese football when this doesn´t even concern you. Remember that the captain of your team is a portuguese player named Luis Boa Morte? Go take your frustrations for getting beat by portuguese teams somewhere else you muppet. It´s always the same excuse, blah blah diving, look at your own teams flaws.

What crap about Portuguese football? Benfica were a soft team in the second that's all... They were diving and wasting time. Congratulations to them for winning it, because in the end they deserved it. Perhaps I was over-harsh on my descriptions of them diving and all that, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I'm not a Man United fan, no. But when it comes European football I'll always go for the English team. Benfica deserved the win and I'm dissapointed by that. Christiano Ronaldo is not that great of a player in my eyes, but that's not insulting Portuguese football. The other starting 10 players in the Portuguese squad are top class, no denying that. I just don't like Ronaldo and never have.

Portuguese football is often more entertaining than the Spanish league, and if it was shown more often here I would certainly watch more. Of course I know the Dead Snake is Portuguese. But that won't change my views on Portuguese football or Ronaldo or the time-wasting/simulation from Benfica in the second half.

This is a football forum, and I have come here to express my opinions on todays game. That's what I've done.

EDIT: Portuguese people themselves are having a go at Ronaldo so there's nothing wrong there.

An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. I see where he's coming from, but he shouldn't lower himself to that level.

Ronaldo: "i don't have to give explanations. the public wasn't pleasant with me"

he really shows his immaturity there. This is why they shouldn't hand out millions to teenagers.. Ronaldo will never be a great player until he can take a harsh critique or be able to play well even where he's not popular. Maybe he's too used to screaming female fans everywhere he goes in England..

You have your opinion (doesn´t mean i have to respect it) and i can rebute your views. I wasn´t really talking about Ronaldo, i don´t really care what you think about him, he has helped my Nt enough in order to have my gratitude and for that he has my support. I was talking about the usual scapegoat speech by the english in order to excuse their failures. It´s never the merit of the other team, their effort, their attitude, their heart, it´s always some lame ass excuse, the diving, the referee, the pitch. It´s always the same stereotypes.

football crowds are fickle, he needs to learn that. Ask guys like Figo or Zidane if they're affected by being booed, not a chance..

In no way did I say Man U would have won had they not dived. But true football supporters don't like to see this addition in the game. Had Benfica stayed standing at times, Man United still would have lost. Man United were no good, and Benfica played with passion and belief. I don't like to see time wasting or diving. Nothing to do with the outcome of the game, just what a true football fan should think about the game.

This reported £15mil loss for not qualifying for the last 16... Thats the £15mil pot that gets shared between Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool right? Cos that does sound a bit hefty to be awarded £15mil for getting to the last 16...

Honestly, you're making millions doing this. I think you can take a bit of stick.

so true! that's one thing that's always annoyed me about star soccer players, they love the spotlight, crowds, and journalist when they're helping their fame and fortune but as soon as it turns negative, they're all worse than Hitler.

reminds me of celebrities and papparazzi...they love it when the camera is making them millionaires, but as soon as they aren't gaining something by having their picture taken, it's a nightmare all of a sudden.

Ferguson, Queerarse...GET THE **** OUT OF MY ******* CLUB AND TAKE YOUR **** PLAYERS WITH YOU I just want Ruud and Rooney cloned over and over and that will be our new team.
Yeah, Ruud and Rooney were great today

All I have to say is that it showed after ManU's goal that Benfica had all of the energy and motivation and for that I give them credit. A lot of times you'll see a team who needs a goal and you just wonder why they aren't pushing forward but Benfica did push forward and I was thrilled when they were rewarded with two goals. They played with heart and had a great touch. It's a shame that the simulating at the end had to tarnish their image. They would have been put on a pedastal in Europe if they'd finished cleanly.

First of all and to settle this, in my first post (and you can look it up) i said that i didn´t agree with their antics. I only reacted (Benfica isn´t even my team) because it´s always the same crap speech and cheap shots about portuguese football whenever the outcome doesn´t go your way. And this wasn´t directed to the real Manchester United fans (they reacted with dignity), it was directed to the plastic fans who were disrespectful towards portuguese football when they should have direct their anger to the real problems in "their so called team". I don´t even know why i bother reacting anymore.

15 million sounds about right. UEFA gave something around that sum for getting to the group stage and they get 6 games out of that. Getting 15 million to play two games is pretty nice.
