Senior Squad

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as EURO 2012, will be the 14th European Championship for national football teams organised by UEFA. The final tournament will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine between 8. June and 1. July 2012. It is the first time that either nation has hosted the tournament. This bid was chosen by UEFA's Executive Committee in 2007. The final tournament features 16 nations, the last European Championship to do so (from EURO 2016 onward, there will be 24 finalists). Qualification was contested by 51 nations between August 2010 and November 2011 to join the two host nations in the tournament. Leagues, EL, CL are finished, most of players are preparing for EURO, so I guess it's EURO Time now.

Perhaps we might disscuss all the groups as we already started? Teams, squads, predictions... We already disscussed Group A, so let's go to the Group of Death - Group B.

I don't give Portugal too many chances to pass the group, but if they take points against Germany in first match then it's gonna be tight. In qualifications they didn't showed brilliant form, and they don't have good score against Denmark with who they play again in the group stage, right? Denmark also don't have many chances, but they'll give the hell to all the others, and with positive start against Netherlands they may surprise. I hope good performance from Eriksen. Germans qualified with 10 out of 10, no lost, amazing, one of the favorites to win the tournament. Germany and Netherlands from this group in my opinion.

I think Germany has the best chances to progress from the group, but it's nearly impossible to predict which of the three stronger teams will make it through and in which order (1st or 2nd). BTW, Group B also has the longest travelling distances for matches between Kharkiv and Lviv. Netherlands (as seeds) play all their matches in Kharkiv. That'll certainly be a factor.

I think Germany could suffer a Bayern hangover. 8 of the starting 11 could be Bayern players, and as many as 6 will be. Who knows where their heads will be.

I agree with this. I was thinking before the CL final that the match could give something of an indication of how Germany perform. I still think they are the favourites but I have some doubts now as the big players in Lahm and Schweini can choke. They can gain from the experience and use it as a motivation however. They will progress from the group however.

I also feel that the Dutch might not even get out of the group. The defence looks poor and I expect RvP to not carry his club form(it hasn't been that great either recently) to the NT. Bdw, they also have Robben (H).

I think Portugal is gonna surprise most probably at the expense of the Dutch in the Group.

Poland,Italy and England could surprise as well.

I am looking forward on this EURO 2012 tournament. I don't mind which sides of national team that will eventually win this one.

May the best national team win it ! :)

Perhaps it could. Löw is feared of that, but I think he's pretty good motivator and that won't be such a big problem. Only who might lose his head is Schweinsteiger, especially if things don't go good for Germany in the beginning. It would be surprise if they don't pass the group stage. Will see how how friendly matches will pass.

Well they also didn't make it in the last EURO group of death they were in - 2004.

If they get eliminated, that'd really suck because I want Poland to beat them for the first time ever in the QFs. :(

God I'm so excited! I was in South America for the world cup so even though I caught at lot of the games it didnt feel right watching them from eight in the morning surrounded by people I couldnt really talk to about it........ this time I'm gonna be back in England with no responsibilities and plenty of drinking money....... I might try and watch every minute.

Anyway......

I think England will win in a style very similar to Chelsea's CL win, possibly beating Germany in the final.

I reckon Ireland will qualify at the expense of Italy. I expect good performances from Russia and Poland, wouldnt be surprised to see one of them in the semi finals.

I dont think Spain will dominate like they have in the past. I'm also expecting Holland to underperform.

BTW, All former champions (or their carryover descendents) are in this year's EUROs. 9 teams have won it and 7 haven't.

Irish are gonna be tough. We play first match against them and I think who lose there will probably not reach out of the group. Pulling out against Italy and Spain is not an easy task.

Trying to play this ESPN fantasy league with some friends where you pick players. No salary cap, just pick anyone you want. Pissed off that Maggio and Chygrynskiy aren't in the database yet. Bull****.
