UEFA SuperCup Final- FC Porto vs. Valencia CF [P+R]

but again like every year the thing that bothers me the most is the stadium, I can't stand it Thoughts about this game:
- Porto is not playing at his best and that it's pretty clear, we also missed a LOT a playmaker like Diego is and a striker like Derlei to give us a boost in the attack...
- Valencia played well, they were probably the main responsables of Porto not playing very well but the fact is that they won because they were more effective than Porto, we missed 3 or 4 great opportunities, that's football and we have to give credit to Valencia for scoring 2 goals in 3 or 4 chances they had...
-Also has to be said that this not proves that Valencia is the best team in Europe, it doesn't even prove they are better than Porto cause like i told we're very far from our best, we still need time to adapt some new players and the new coach started working in our club only 2 weeks ago... i still think we'll make a GREAT season but we need time, obsviouly i'm very sad cause we missed for the 2nd consecutive year the opportunity of winning this trophy...
P.S.- For some "lampiões" that i saw very happy around here with our defeat(Parasol and Punkt) i have one thing to say(in portuguese): Reduzam-se à vossa insignificância que pelo menos nós jogamos hoje porque somos Campeões da Europa enquanto vocês jogam pra UEFA... a vossa "alegria" é sinal da nossa grandeza, o que vale é que já tivestes a vossa conta à 1 semana atrás e mais estará pra vir durante a época.

Duas semanas?! Deves andar a ver mal... a diferença é que eu assumo que odeio a vossa equipa e que sou contra vocês em todas as competições... é como digo, vocês são mais anti-porto do que benfiquistas, inda por cima só aparecem todos inchados qdo as derrotas acontecem pro nosso lado, uns tristes é o que vocês são. Deixa lá, ao menos perdemos contra uma equipa em condições e o teu querido clube já levou na cabecinha por isso pia baixinho...

Alguém disse que não podias ser contra nós? Já começas a parecer mesmo estúpido, eu simplesmente disse que certas pessoas só se assumem em determinadas alturas em que lhes convém, ou seja, um bando de hipócritas é o que vocês são, eu pelo menos sempre mantive a minha posição em relação ao teu clube foleiro... É melhor acabar com isto que não leva a lado nenhum, no fim da época fazemos contas tá?

mas eu não era contra o Porto nos jogos da UEFA, por isso não tinha nada que assumir... mas esta época quero mais é que se estampem.

Valencia didn't lost any key players, insted the add some very good players (italians) and the were the champions of Spain, which is a very difficult league. So right now i would say yes, Valencia is better.
I can't tell if the result would have been different maybe 4 month ago. Anyway you guys can still win the Intercontinental Cup.

Shame Porto didn't win but I think most Porto fans needed a good dose of reality of losing to get their heads off their arses and this was the perfect european game for it... not very important, but important enough . I didn't even watch the game anyway bcs I thought it would suck and there were better things to do.
Don't get your hopes up for this season Mourinho, Carvalho, Deco. Ferreira are gone and with them the spine of the team. You may win the championship mostly because of the lack of quality of the opposition, but I don't think you'll get further than last 16 in the CL with such a young team.

Actually I was working, so can't comment on the game.
Just want to hand out my congrats to Valencia, which proved again to have a great team.
As for us, we still have a lot of work ahead. Fernandez's tactics haven't really sunk in, not surprisingly considering the small amount of practice time he had with his players (especially comparing to Valencia), but I0m confident we'll be on the right track pretty soon.
Remember, we lost last Supercup too and look what we have shining on our trophy room.
About some benfiquistas cheering Valencia, it doesn't bother me one bit. Their problem, not mine. I'd be worried if they had any Benica wins over Porto to celebrate.

Valencia deserved to win because they were able to score in the few chances they had. Porto had almost the same number of chances and only scored once...so congrats to Valencia, but i should say they didn't impressed me to much, like Porto they still have to improve.
about Porto, our midfield didn't work most of the time, and because of that our attack was unable to find it's way to the goal. Maniche isn't at his best form yet, though he tries hard in the pitch; Hugo Leal, well...what the is he doing there? he doesn't have a place in that team, i couldn't really understand why wasn't Quaresma in the starting eleven?
of course, the team misses players like Derlei and Diego, but that doesn't explain it all, Fernandez still has a lot to do, and considering the game against Benfica, i could se already some improvements, but that's not enough...anyway i don't think we can expect more from a coach that has only two weeks of work with the team...
now a special word for all the portuguese that are thrilled with our loss...i personally don't give this loss to much of importance, but last year we also lost this cup, and end up winning the SuperLiga and the CL. i'm not saying that it'll happen again, but this game doesn't mean ****, there's still a whole season to be played and everything can happen...
PS -> Nuno Valente gave me the creeps, he was unable to get passing and crossing right; on the other end, Seitaridis is playing well, he just needs to improve the comunication with his team mates

Well, this is going to be a hard year for us, we have an almost entire new team, and almost every single player is very young (Pepe, Seitaridis, Quaresma, Postiga, Carlos Alberto, all of them under 22) yesterday we miss the presence of 2 of the most important players in the squad, IMO, Derlei and Diego (another one under 22 years old), besides Victor Fernandez made a mistake not putting Quaresma in the starting eleven.
At the moment we lack, speed, high pressure capabilitie and accurate and fast passing but with training we will get there.
Even so, we are going to improve in the next month, and we are going to be very hard to beat, and to everyone that is saying that this year we will not reach the last 8, wait and see, maybe we reach a litlle further than that
