1)This wasn't a joke.

2)He doesn't always say things like this to offend journalists or the like...

He coached in Greece for many years and believe he was as normal a person as could be.

This was an isolated incedent that just showed what kind of a person he is inside.

Humans naturally segregate people, judge people by their looks etc. It requires education to teach them not to do that.

We can't just ignore racism. That's like ignoring a murder. Oh if we ignore it then the murderer will get bored. Racists don't do it to please someone else, they do it because they enjoy it.

yeah but in a way you can see both points. An old relic of a cliche is the old; "just by segregating people by colour, will create racism" essentially, its right. All racism is is one group versus another, but with more historical background to "fire things up"

its just like the in-group, out-group thing that you do in AS level "pop" psychology. Thats all racism is at the end of the day, but as with all other group vs group rivalry, its very hard to get rid of, and, unlike other group-group mentalties, its WAY more offensive.

Hate is a very passionate emotion. One that has sadly permiated our society. As ignorant as the Ukranian coach is, his greatest crime is not ignorance. His greates crime against humanity is hatred.

His comments, to be frank, has gone across the fine line of ignorance. His comments are just plain hateful. Such silly archaic and disgraceful comments have no place in modern day society. That he, the Ukraine coach, can even have such thoughts places him in the cage of mammals who should not be allowed to see the bright light of day. As the coach of Ukraine, he is an ambassador to that country, and I hope all ukrainians have their heads down, in a collapsing manner, signifying shame and disgust.

well i have to say though, i am ukrainian, and reason he might have such a strong opinion is because theres virtually like no other race there but ukrainians, with a few other europeans. people over there just arent used to different cultures and people and races living in ukraine and playing soccer there, especially the older generation, so that might be a reason for his comment.

Finally, I could name a lot of people who have lost their jobs because they made racist comments. just last month a DJ in an American radio was fired immediately for supposedly making a racist remark.

As a Ukranian, you should be ashamed of your country for having an imbecile as your football ambasador. it tells very badly on your country. At present, Africans will look disdainly upon Ukraine. Just becuase your national coach and apparently you have no sence of decency.

Wrong big Time fella. There are millions of people around the world who have never even had a racist thought. Dont think Racism is in everyone because it is not. OK maybe the coach is uneducated in the ways of the civilised world. Maybe many older Ukrainians are just as uneducated in the way a civilised person should behave. So, they need to be taught that disgusting comments like that are not tolerated in a civilised society. An example should be set so that others can learn from it.

The Ukrainian FA should have sacked him already, or at least made him give out an apology . They have not, so what does that say about the Ukrainian government and football authorities?

Fifa need to deal with this, if they want the rest of us to believe that they are serious about kicking racism out of football. They need to make an example of this man. He is not the first idiot within football to talk openly this way, but FIFA should ensure that he is the last.
