Unable to boot up computer

Alright, to make things easier, here's the exact query I sent to EA -

I have had Cricket 2005 for several months now and I've been the victim of a recurring bug. After having played the game for about 20 minutes - my entire PC shuts down, without so much as a warning. I'm positive that this is related to Cricket 2005, as I haven't experienced such problems whatsoever whilst NOT playing Cricket 2005.

However, I ignored the problem and just worked around it. Until this morning, when I was playing, it happened again. When I went to reboot my computer - it went to the loading screen (I have an Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop), then went to a black screen, with a flashing underscore in the top left corner (most certainly an irrelevant detail). I've tried several times to restart the computer but it continues going to this "black screen".

I'd like to know what's caused this, and how I can fix this problem, without reformatting my harddrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So, anyone have any ideas? I've thought about using the Recovery CD, but I'd hate to lose all the stuff I had on there. Music, games, movies, software, work.

Heh.....looks like its a conflict between the game & your hardware.....most likely your 3D card. System crashes like that are pretty dangerous & 1 crash too many might screw up your comp. I dont think you need to exactly clean re-format & install windows. Perhaps a repair would be sufficient.

Or the best thing is.....take out the hard-drive.....connect it to another comp(make sure you set it as slave), & back-up all your valuable data :). Then you can do a clean re-format or whatever

Ok, well, it's not starting up, so how do I "repair" it? Also, remember it's a notebook, so I'm not completely sure how I get the harddrive out (I guess I can seek professional assistance with that :p)

Darn.....that changes everything. Yeah.....I wouldnt know how to take it out myself. Your recovery disk should be bootable. Go into your boot menu(accesing it requires pressing a button, usually "delete" while the comp boots) & change the boot order so that the comp boots from the CD-drive 1st. Then re-boot with the recvery disk inside. Then it should be pretty straight forward & there should be a repair option. If there isnt.......then you're in some trouble if you want to recover your data. Better hand it over to some experts

Ok, I changed the boot order to put the CD-drive first, then it came up with the following:

Code:
Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 (build 082) v6.2.11a
Copyright (C) 2000-2003 Broadcom Corporation
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
All Rights Reserved

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM

Thoughts?

That's true, but heat may have something to do with it... I tend to leave my computer running for long periods of time, does get pretty hot... I can't smell any burnt plastic? I need to take it into a techie shop, that's for sure.

Heh........I leave my comp on 24/7....even went a week without giving it a break. My friend went on for a month. No.......unless you're gaming maybe 8 hours straight then it might over-heat.

Joe do remember this is a laptop not a regular PC. And apparently other users too complain about the heat issue with this particular laptop.

Abit too late ain't it since he can't even boot it up anymore. :chew:
Maybe cricket 2005 just over exert the hardware somehow...
