It will be on 2nd of July 2003 an exhibition game in favour for Unicef, in the Bessa Stadium (Boavista, city of Porto) that will put head to head a lot of the top players in the world. Just take a look at the star lot:

Figo, the main responsable for the event will play for both teams.

The UNICEF team will be coached by Alex Ferguson and Vicente del Bosque, and will have as GK Toldo (Inter); defence: Michel Salgado (Real Madrid), Coco (Inter), Sergi (At. Madrid), Lúcio (Bayer Leverkusen), Chivu (Ajax), Blanc (Manchester United) and Jorge Costa (FC Porto); midfield Flávio Conceição and Zidane(Real Madrid), Davids (Juventus), Pires (Arsenal), João Pinto (Sporting) and Sérgio Conceição (Inter); forwards: Kezman (PSV Eindhoven), Shevchenko (Milan), Ibrahimovic (Ajax) and Pauleta (Bordéus).

In the bench of the Figo foundation team will be Carlos Queiroz and Luiz Felipe Scolari. The stars in this side will be: GK: Buffon (Juventus) and Ricardo (Benfica) ; defence: Panucci (Roma), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Hierro, Fernando Couto (Lazio) and Sol Campbell (Arsenal); midfield: Makelelé (Real Madrid), Guardiola (Brescia), Rui Costa and Leonardo (Milan), Joaquin (Bétis) and Ryan Giggs (Manchester United); attack: Ronaldo and Raul (Real Madrid), Andy Cole (Blackburn Rovers) and Van Nistelrooy (Manchester United)

I think it will be a great show despite its a friendly :) its not every day we see such lot of players in just one game. And it's for a good cause. Im really looking really forward to this.

A word of praise to Luis Figo, the man who made this possible and all the players who volunteered to help the cause.

Great to see all these stars get together for a good cause. Great to see Figo organizing it as well, good job Luis!

One question though...How is João Pinto on the team? It won't be a 'friendly' with him on the pitch :D

Hey, i think that the line-ups are a bit wrong. Because i read that ALex Ferguson will have to coach Beckham for one last time in that game and i don't see Beckham on UNICEF line-up. BTW who do you guys think will start Ronaldo and RvN, RvN and Raul or Ronaldo and Raul? Or Maybe the all new unstoppab;e 3 R's?

They should play a 4-2-4 formation with an attack like this:
-----------Raul-------------RvN--------------------
Giggs--------------------------------Ronaldo-------

4 R's - Ruud, Raul, Ryan and Ronaldo :D

I hope there is a minute of silence in memory of the great Marc-Vivien Foé. It would be, not only decent, but a special tribute to a player that always gave everything he had. His last words are the real proof of that.
