Hi,

What were your specs before you upgraded? Have you checked your event viewer application log to see what the error says?

Hi, Thanks for the replay.
My specs before the upgrade where:
Intel DG33BU Motherboard
Leadteak Nvidia 8600GT 512kb

I forgot to mention that I have 4 GB Ram.

Please forgive my ignorance, I'm relatively new to Vista. Where do I find event viewer application?

Hi,

I'll bet that you have remnants of the nvidia driver on your PC and that is conflicting with your new Radeon Video Card driver. When I remove and replace a Video driver, I always use Driver Cleaner 3 (there are probably newer free versions). I completely remove the nvidia vid driver in Safe Mode.

If I was in your shoes, I would remove the current Radeon driver and the older nvidia driver in safe mode and once all is removed, I would re-install the radeon driver.

I don't use vista, but I'll bet that you can use the search function and type "Event Viewer" and it will find it.

Good luck.

Hi
Thanks for the answer. However I reinstalled windows when I upgraded my hardware so no old Nvidia drivers should be left on my HD.

Any Ideas? please

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. Have you been able to find the event viewer in vista? I'm guessing that there would probably be an error in the application log. I don't use vista, but I built a pc last year for my nephew and installed vista. I sort of remember that I had to install the video drivers (nvidia) prior to doing the Vista OS install - there was a prompt to load video drivers that I had missed on the first go around. Vista defaulted to generic MS video drivers and I couldn't update the driver like an XP install, at least that's what I found - until I reloaded the OS.

Hope that helps.
