Our national league is almost bankrupt. Supporter turn out is at an all time low, except in Perth, as they have been great the last few years and are ont op by around 10 points. Our country is mainly Rugby and AFL, not football. It isn't even called football here it's "soccer". What the hell is that????

I don't know why they don't have an entire channel on cable dedicated to soccer. would be a lot more interesting than bloody aussie rules. How long can u show aussie rules for when only one country plays it???
With the amount of football played all over the world u could have 2 channels!! I know I would pay extra to have football 24 hrs a day.

two points to make...

1. there are alot of soccer fans in Australia and having a whole channel dedicated so soccer would be great, but not just all italian and english soccer, Australia is multicultural as you should know so there should be a wide range on league being presented but of coarse have more on the most popular.

2. There is nothing wrong with AFL. Aussie Rules is the greatest sport there is, with the exception of one, Soccer.

3. oh wait theres was only supposed to be two.

I understand all that (saw show about it the other day) but at the same time you actually have socceroo fans and a league. Canada on the other hand is hte most "unsoccer" (new word) in the world. Yet they showed every game in '98. Just seems suprising to me.

I thought Channel 9 got the best 16 games then SBS has the pick of the rest. Am I wrong? If I am then f*** me. I wanna see the whole World Cup not just a handful of games. Anyway, what good has Channel 9 ever done for football? Stupid ratings hungry channel. If SBS had the rights they wouldve shown every game. :mad: :mad:

I agree. Channel 9 will probably end up showing them in the middle of the night, and will probably show the final first!!

And then because only 8 million people are watching it instead of the 9 million they expected, they will just stop showing it.

Isn't that the way channel 9 treat all their good shows? (i.e all star treks and buffy's etc..) They leave prime time for the truly great stuff like "Marry Me" and show buffy's out of order and when they feel like it.

No I don't have a problem with channel 9, cause I have cable!! :D
