Congrats Holland but they've been outplayed by the Serbs for a good part of the game, anyway I'd switched it to the Formula 1 like half an hour ago. ah crap Alonso wins it again

Fully deserved win for Holland, for me they are the most impressive side in the WC so far by a mile.

Robben definitely influenced a lot the dutch game by pulling out a simply amazing performance....

The Serbs generally sucked, some players were not bad but the team as a whole was poor.

Robben was brilliant and he was deservedly chosen as man of the match I am really confident about the game against CIV, we can take them as well. The most difficult one will be without a doubt the game against Argentina cause they have some massive strikers and our defense...well let's say there is some work to do for Marco..

Be sure that Holland will be better against Argentina, they will be more psyched for that game and I think van der Vaart will play there.
We have a score to settle against Argentina since the WC1978 and now is the time to do it, gonna be very hard but we will fight like lions!

Serbia y Montenegro looked good but they are going to suffer against Ivory Coast....

Serbia didn't look like they wanted it, simple. Their defence was very solid (though exposed for lack of pace by Robben for the goal), but noone looked to have any interest in scoring. Kezman, Stankovic...... totally invisible. Koroman looked good, the replacement strikers did their best chasing hopeless longballs. If Serbia pressed in the second half AT ALL (more than just the strikers in your attacking half could be a start) they could have got something from this game. As of the 60th minute, I don't think there was a situation that even resembled a real goalscoring chance. Holland got the goal, with a very quick counter, and after that the referee may as well have called full time.



BTW, it is NEVER EVER EVER mentioned, but the referee did an awesome job officiating. Thought i'd point that out, given that the only feedback we usually get is that they suck.


EDIT: Sorry, RUSI... what was bad about the ref??? Neither side can have complaints, he eliminated any unnecessary force from creeping into the game and was pretty much spot on every time

Not a very interesting match for me, by any means...

And i was actually disapointed with Holland's overall performance... the only impressive thing about this game, was Robben... Sneijder sucked, RVN didn't do much also and Van Persie only in 2 occasions i saw something from him... nothing special though...

S&M maybe deserved a draw... but then again, Holland's got Robben and they don't... he made the difference... a 9/10 performance from him...

I was expecting something more from Holland... well, let's see how they play in the next games... although i'm rooting for the African side... but i hope Holland defeats Argentina!

I have to agree. Out of all games I've seen this World Cup, this ref was the best one so far.

Great first half by Robben, he was quite selfish in the second half. Holland played better when Robben played better.

People seem to be expecting an awful lot from these opening games. The most important thing is not taking too big a gamble and loosing. The first group games are rarely classics as there is too much at stake.
