Well, it's not like we were going to get a World Champion out of this match, but at least England could have put up a bit more effort...

England just doesn't have the talent nor the athletes. Dare I say that England looks a tad bit old and out of shape against the young krauts.

So, will it end 4-2 to make it a complete 1966 reversal, controversial goal and all that or will it be 5-1 and revenge for Munich 2001?

scandal! I, as much as anyone, want England to be knocked out in this one, but due to their incompetence (1st goal), and due to them being taken apart (2nd goal), but not due to a blunderous officiating decision ... what a shame ...

hopefully Germany put the match to bed with a couple more goals and make sure the better side and deserving winner is well established ...
feels GREAT when you want something, and you are given it!!

now they need another goal to get 2 revenges for the price of 1!

more effort? they've tried, but they just aren't as good as their own hype makes them out to be ...

To be fair to England, though, I thought after Germany's second and before their third, they were the better side and looked likely to score, Defoe and Lampard hitting the crossbar.

I think that's what Germany is playing for. To never be reminded of that Munich game ever again.

Defoe's effort was flagged for offside, so wouldn't have counted anyway ... Lampard definitely unlucky to hit the bar, but he's smashed a few others straight into the wall ...

Yes they've been more clinical but the BBC commentators were saying the scoreline was only normal overall. To not acknowledge the last two goals were almost direct repercussions of the equaliser not being given is pretty moronic. Not doubt we'd have played 2 at the back and Terry up front at 2-2 as well!

That was a marginal offside decision that could have gone either way. Sure, things just didn't go England's way, and you can't rely on ref decisions to win big matches, but the scoreline doesn't reflect what the game was.

Best World Cup game so far, IMHO (Ok, I didn't watch Italy vs. Slovakia)

Nah they could have clearly done more, they're not this bad...
and what exactly makes you say that? their recent international track record? their performances at this World Cup? or is it their indefinable "potential" that has little rationality behind it?

Filipower;2897412 said:
Still, Blatter cannot tuck this one away. Someone should answer for Lampard's goal...
if the English were such staunch supporters of technology, or even goal-line refs, then they should have made a stronger effort to get the Europa League experiment carried forward into the World Cup ... but if they act now, it would be a reactive move, not proactive, which would indicate they would not have done so had Germany been the ones who were denied ... that sort of hyprocrisy, in my eyes, is more disgraceful than any officiating mistakes ...

EDIT:

agreed on all counts ... but English football is notorious for being proud of scoring on counterattacks despite being outpossessed and penned back, so excuse my lack of sympathy for them ...

Im not to glad about our victory, especially because of that not given 2:2......I also feel sorry for the english. Actually im kind of a supporter except for games vs. germany, of course.
