Usual comments after a victory of Argentina in SGF:

"The referee was pro-Argentina."

"X player of Argentina should have got a red card, besides what the rules say.

"The other team deserved to win just because."

"Argentina has no chance against whatever team they could play next.

:boohoo:

i agree with none of them ; but lets face it ; i dont think the games are going to get much easier than this one; and i must admit that germany or holland or portugal have a more powerful offense than mexico; especially the forwards; and argentina need to really cope with that if they wanna make it all the way

just look at the past confedaratioins cup; they also beated mexico i an real hard game just like this one ; and then the team all crumble down when they faced a more powerful offense like brazils in the final.

Our defense was one of the high points in the team. Im only worried about our midfield.

Ayala is the best defender in the WC so far. Heinze was one of the best until this game. Abbondazieri is in a superb level.

I would like to see Sorin in the Midfield with Cufre behind him and Maxi in the Right.

I believe that against Germany it will be a more open match, and with more offensive football.

Mexico played really well...those guys are warriors and have nothing to be ashamed of!!!

Argentina, however, looked very shaky in the beginning....and couldn't control the midfield like they usually do...Mexico's quick goal probably made them shaky....but to be honest they controlled the whole second half and extra time...it looked like Mexico only tried to take this game to penalties....Heinze played horrible game...made a few clear mistakes and actually should have deserved a red card for his tackle....and I agree with the previous poster....Ayala has been the best defender of the tournament....he's rock solid.

After Maxi's awesome goal they looked like the Argentina that dominated the games against all their group opponents....they play really controlled football when they're leading...perhaps the enormous pressure that they have has some effect on them.

If Heinze deserved a red card...Argentina got robbed a clear goal (Tevez - Messi)....not offside. So I don't think the referees are the ones to blame. Like I said...Mexico played a great game but I don't think anyone can say that Argentina didn't deserve to win...they were clearly the better team...but not performing as good as they should have.

Saviola should be replaced with Tevez in the next game...let's try him with Crespo...and then change Crespo to Messi later in the game. How about that combo?

Germany-Argentina is going to be a classic. 1986 and 1990 finals rematch...Germany's offence was scary good today against the Swedes...so it's not going to be easy...although Argentina still has better team...but they need to perform much better.

That's why i find very positive that we had this kind of game now, right before playing Germany, this was like a cold shower and could be VERY USEFUL to get some stuff clear to the players. And so that even after this others shouldn't take us so easily, same applies for us regarding the others.:jambo:

Congrats Maxi! :rockman:

Heinze deserved a red card in the first half. Nuff said.

Bring those beaches on, we need continue the carnage. :junior:

About Heinze...that tackle didn't come from behind... what do the rules say? Should stealing a clear goal scoring chance with a foul always be worth a red card for the defending player?

No...read it again. I _was asking_ how the rules are...if a player tackles from front without attempt to injure...but just to steal a clear goal scoring chance...is that worth a red card...BY THE RULES?

The reason I was asking because I simply don't know. Did the referee do the right thing or not...according to rulebook...? I was under the impression that straight red cards are only given from clear attempts to injure... and from dangerous tackles FROM BEHIND. Correct me if I'm wrong.

the rules say that stopping an obvious goal scoring opportunity (through a foul) is punishable with a red card.

so in the ref's opinion he wasn't stopping an obvious goal scoring opportunity, a wrong decision in everyone else's opinion since he was essentially the last man before the keeper.

i would first like to congratulate argentina as a team on their win

and now i would like to say that 2 players from argentina are a bunch of bast.ards
1) heinze - this guy thinks hes the sh.it but is one of the ****.tiest players and makes so many mistakes. he walks as if hes the king of the world when he know everyone wants to knock the sh.it out of him.
2) maxi rodriguez - this di.ck knows hes lost the ball but falls with his head tilted backwards in order to show the pain and get the call. twice in two minutes, little bas.tard. and he also walks around like he owns the world.

apart from that, messi what a magnificent player its unbelievable what he does when he is so tiny.
abbondanzieri - daniel craig lookalike? (at least in my eyes)
and great work from mexico, really suprised me...
