I'm tired of the wait!
with FIFA 2002 and with the WC, EA showed us a lot of images per week.. and now, that they're promessing us that this game will be REALLY great they only showed us 6 pictures!..
is this fear???..
I think they should show us more IMAGES! and at least 1 video!!!...
if they really want us to comment "what good is their new game"...
we're just replying and replying the same stupid threads again and again, and that make no sense to me, and I'm sure that neither to you.
and they (EA) should put the pictures in FIFA 2002.com or in Soccergaming.tv or just, here in the forums!
IT IS NO FEAR, THAT WE HAVE TO SEARCH AROUND THE WHOOOLE NET FOR JUST 1 OR 2 PICTURES... AND SURELY IF WE FIND THEM... WE ALREADY HAVE SEEN THEM BEFORE.

That's my opinion...

sorry about my English,I know it sux.

Yeah, EA has been very quiet about FIFA 2003, which is strange because it's such a big release for them, especially this version with the all new game engine, etc..

Maybe they just want to build the suspense or something...either that, or the game really HASN'T changed much and they don't want anyone to know this early, lol  :D

IMO there is something special behind this wait and quietness.

If the game (fifa 2003) itself is really good, I mean really good, like it was in 98, I will be shocked cause I am not used to it so as all of us.

I remember 98, it was amazing playing it for a very long time. I don't have exact number of time but I do remember that the game lasting me when 99 came out. I played a league game with fifa 98, went to school, came home and guess what? my bro bought me fifa 99. Thats what I am expecting from fifa games starting fifa 2003, will last me all year long.

The reason EA isn't showing too much, is because everybody would see that nothing has been changed.... They claim to have a totally new engine etc. etc. Ne-eeh! Forget it!

Just look at the screenshots, especially the one with Barthezz grabbing the ball from (i think) Raul from Real Madrid. Look at the players around them. They just look at something else. One player walks towards the referee, two Man. Utd players in front of Barthezz look to the right etc etc. I mean, how unrealistic is this?? Everybody knows that players focus on the ball and their direct/indirect opponent.

"Where's the ball, where's my opponent etc etc. That's why they are pro in the first time! They can READ the game!! They don't look at the crowd. Most professional football players even FORGET they're playing in a stadium, they're only concentrating on the game!

==============================================

Anyway.... I Think FIFA 2003 will be just another release that won't bring what we expect in a game. It'll be just like WC 2002, with maybe better graphics, but with the same lacky AI and playability....

Oh... wait!! There's still one thing I don't understand.... Why is EA CANADA developing this game?? I mean Canada... Do they even play soccer there?? "P

Why not develop it in Europe??

It can seriously go either way. They could be building suspense because they know they finally got it right, or it could be because it isnt really anything new and they just don't want people knowing about it too soon. But I hope it is my first thought instead of the second one. i truly hope FIFA 2003 cracks up to what they say it will be. But like some people say, dont say it, show it.:D

well,i believe that EA has something new 2 show us about the gameplay.i don't believe that they lie 2 us...(ok ok ok they did it again..i know).Like i said they got something..We don't know if is it good or is it bad..they don't show us..They may want 2 show us all their new stuff with their new website that like Matt said it will have something special this year...
All we can do is to wait..wait wait...

  :( (am waitin!!!)

It doesn't matter where they develope the game, it is more so who developes it and what are their views on football. Exhibit A, Konami of Japan. Foot is just caching on their but they've managed to pump out the best games on the planet. Infact they are so good, that Konami of Europe just takes their games, translates it, more eye candy and sells it to europe.

So where they develope it doesn't matter.

The game hasnt been changing for years and they were never ashamed of that. So, because this silence is sth different lets hope the game will be also like never before :brow:

they're making us think, and for some its starting to hurt peoples minds.

I beleive the more patient your are, the better.

My guess is that they're building the suspense, and probably monitoring the reactions of some of the info they've filtered . . .

and probably trying to make some last minute fixes . .

Only EA knows ;)

IMO , i feel that they want to change their kits. they have seen gr8 kits made by great kit makers (fede, rossoneri, steven, robert etc etc ) . i think they have done their part of making gr8 faces , awesome graphics and a new game engine . i think they want to spend this little time of making gr8 kits and UPDated KITS ( SEE THE PIC OF MAN UTD, THERE WERE OLD KITS) . i think thats why they will show many more pics a little later . i think they want to make this game perfect !

Re

Guys, I actually think the game has changed a lot, and become better and better! I started out with fifa 99 and had a real fun time, but then I bought Fifa 2000, and it was completely different! The players ran like mad, better graphics and so on. Fifa 2001 had another big change to it, it introduced the power bar and drastically improved the graphics. Fifa 2002 was another step forward, introducing power bars for evry occasion, more realistic goalkeepers, though they still are FAR from realistic! and the "RUN, Babe RUN!!"-button. That's a hell of a change!!! Now you can position the ball where you want and send a player to it, and I almost forgot the 1-2 passes! Fifa 2002 is a great game! It's got a lot of bugs and minor things to be changed, but I think it's a matter of tuning, more than reinventing, 'cause EA actually got it right this time! They've only got to make it better, more unpredictable, remake the goalkeepers and the referee. But the mayor part has been fixed. Therefore I think Fifa 2003 won't be something completely different. It will be a better Fifa 2002. What matters those small annoying things you bother to menthion, like players facing another way when a ball is being sent towards the net, What are you? Idiots or what? What the hell do you care if they are looking the other way???? Do you seriously think that's important? Or the fact that the weather is like, persisting in stead of starting and stopping! Guy's, get serious! If you buy a pack of fryes or smarties, or Korn Flakes, or anything else, what do you think is most important? How do you select what to buy? Do you look at the celofane around it, or the fries inside? What I'm saying is that there's time for that stuff in the next upcoming games, but now I really don't think that's what EA is thinking of to sell more cópies!

Well, I think this guy, "GOLD FISH", in some things is right...
but anyway the fact is that EA is more worry about the graphics than in the GAMEPLAY or make the interfaces more enjoyable...
For FIFA 2001, or 2002 they just make the menues almost the same! they only changed one or two colours and that's all!!!
I don't even care if they have or not the license of the players... because look at WE (Winning Elven)... a LOT of player have the name similar but no the same... and does someone even care about that? I mean.. we're always saying WE is better than FIFA... and they don't have the player licenses...

if EA can make the faces as good as they made them for the WC game.. I don't care nothing about player licenses...

Rahulmvora: Thanks for the comments about me, I only try to do my best in the kit making./ anyway, I don't think EA is updating the kits.. because if they want in 1 day (and I said 1 DAY), they can update all the kits!... or you think that they only have 1 or 2 kit makers working??... they have 4 or more kit makers... and if their boss want, can say them: "I WANT ALL THE KITS FINISHED AND UPDATED FOR TOMORROW" and that's all...
or, they can, just make 5 kits and show us updated screenshots...
so that isn't a problem for them.

I think the gamplay in WC 2002 is fantastic, but they can improve it tooooo much!... the EA's gameplay problem is that they make it "too" "rounded", I mean... you can't threat an opponent in a straight way... it's hard to explain/understand what I'm saying...
that's what WE have!... you can face-an-opponent in the way you want...

I hope you all understand me.. because as I said before... my English sux...

See ya!

i think EA may be looking at people's wishes/ complains for the 1st time... and are making changes b4 the release... but its kinda obvious that all want serious gameplay improvements

the game play with friends is good.. but playing with the cpu (AI) is rubbish :(

Problem with fifa is that the animations are all recorded and they all play at same speed... that's how it gets boring to me.
They should have a better physics (gravity, collision..etc) engine which will make the game realistic.

To show you what a good physics engine is, download this demo:

(simply pick up stuff and interact.. there are footballs too.) :mrpimp:

Lol, did somebody say the gameplay in wc2002 is fantastic.
LOL
The animations suck. You have the ball going towards goal, you setup for a right foot shot, you press shoot, and the player hits it with his left foot with the help of a magic ball which can be moved across to the other foot without touching it.
The headers suck. I have yet to win a battle in the air with the computer which is really realistic isnt it.
I also found that my goalie leaves an open net when the ball is played into the area in the air, he doesnt seem to realise that an opposition player is going to head the ball before reching the goalie.
I once passed the ball back to my goalie and he let it go past him into the net.
My defenders dont know where the ball is, they seem to walk in the other direction when being attacked.
My goalie saves a shot, and then gets up without getting the ball, even if the ball is next to him.
Really great gameplay isnt it.
Like iceboy said, physics also need to be improved, along with AI and animations. You would think a big company like EA could make some revolutionary changes to Fifa.

i think there won't be any much changes... perhaps they know they're losing the plot (when Konami finally makes it to PC) and hence tries to play them down, with quote from the interview like:

"Konami has their own strenghts, EA has their own... blah blah"

I think that's just crap, and to think of marketing side of it. Furthermore, keeping us in suspense and showing a few screenshots will perhaps attract more attention and thus more people will go and buy their game and try it out.

Btw, i guess EA should stop releasing FIFA year after year. Just look at Sports Genre Games, compared to RPG or Strategy. Games like War Craft took 3 years? to come up with a 3rd edition. C&C games were also very popular in the past, and they seem to have it in all. They take 3 years to plan and develop into a very good game, hence the fans can enjoy fruitfully for three years.

Instead of a lousy FIFA which can just last at most 3 months.

PS: Another reason for EA not responding to this, there seem to be too much condemning and answering that needs to be done in this Forum, there're plenty who doubt 'em.
