I fully agree with you, CrisArny, I am really puzzled how people can say that FIFA 2000 and 2001 has improved
I also read somebody in this topic said about being patient, but EA has really trained their consumers in patience.
We waited for years for any improvement! Yes, keep patient :D

Well I lost my patience some years ago and switched to the Konami-football series. On gaming it's one of the best decisions I ever made
For instance: PES2 and FIFA 2003 will be released at about the same time. FIFA consumers still waiting for movies and more screenshots, while there are already some video's and many screenshots for PES2
Says enough...

I heard you can create 10 new teams in PES2, and change their kits and stuff. So I am just going to play a 20 team league with the 8 english teams already on the game, 10 new english teams and the 2 scottish teams. This will be much more fun than playing Fifa 2003.

"Konami has their own strenghts, EA has their own... blah blah"

Yer, EA has a big name and a load of licenses, and maybe a few nice graphics, but we want to play football. If I want to see Beckham or Keane, or Henry I can watch the telly.

I find it interseting that EA hasnt released any vids or more screenshots yet. Maybe they are actually working on the game, lol
I personally think last years effort was the worst fifa game since 97. I mean that the game didnt improve much from 2001. The stadiums were almost the same, the overall graphics were very similar, the gameplay became worse (in my opinion), so its very hard to see EA making a big improvement this year.

Guys, I actually think the game has changed a lot, and become better and better!

Fifa 2002 was another step forward, introducing power bars for evry occasion, more realistic goalkeepers, though they still are FAR from realistic! and the "RUN, Babe RUN!!"-button. That's a hell of a change!!! Now you can position the ball where you want and send a player to it, and I almost forgot the 1-2 passes! Fifa 2002 is a great game! It's got a lot of bugs and minor things to be changed, but I think it's a matter of tuning, more than reinventing, 'cause EA actually got it right this time! They've only got to make it better, more unpredictable, remake the goalkeepers and the referee. But the mayor part has been fixed.

What matters those small annoying things you bother to menthion, like players facing another way when a ball is being sent towards the net, What are you? Idiots or what? What the hell do you care if they are looking the other way???? Do you seriously think that's important? Or the fact that the weather is like, persisting in stead of starting and stopping! Guy's, get serious! If you buy a pack of fryes or smarties, or Korn Flakes, or anything else, what do you think is most important? How do you select what to buy? Do you look at the celofane around it, or the fries inside? What I'm saying is that there's time for that stuff in the next upcoming games, but now I really don't think that's what EA is thinking of to sell more cópies!

Dude, you only say that cuz you've never played PES/WE. But then, I can't blame you cuz it's Konami, who's not releasing the damn game in the US!!

<A Short story>
-Me and my bro got together over the summer at our parents house in Korea.
-He was still into the FIFAs and wuz playing FIFA2002 there.
-I told him about how great WE6 is.
-He doesn't listen and argues that FIFA2002 ain't that bad.
-I play the game. It plays like sh#t!!
*just to let you know, I've religioulsy played FIFA from 94 to 2001.
-Out of frustration and sorrow, I get him a beta? version of WE6 in KOREA [slightly tweeked gameplay and also has 3 different KOREAN CHANTS in it!!!]

Result...
-> He doesn't even turn on his PC anymore. Now he's the one praising how great a game WE6 is!!! and how CR@PPY the FIFA series were. No kidding

*Bet you heard these kinds of stories a lot and are getting tired of listening to it again..... but its TRUE!!!

*Oh yeah, the 1-2 from FIFA & WC 2002 sucks.... -_-
since when was did the person who started the 1-2 ALWAYS HAVE to recieve the ball again???

:jambo:

You're pretty damn right dude! I don't have a playstation, neither the cash to buy it, so I havn't played WE or anything else for playstation. Based on my experience, I make my conclusions, if you understand what I mean. And let you make your own. Certainly for me FIFA has changed a lot, and into better, so if they just continue improving, it'll soon be very good.

Ah, and how can you say that the gameplay in Fifa 2002 is the worst since 97? I wonder if you've played the game at all! You MUST see that i´'s much better than any other previous versions of FIFA! The ability to place the ball ahead of a teammate is revolutionary! If you can't hit the ****ing mate, it's your prob mate! Maybe you need some classes in handling the power bar! If you say things like: the gameplay sux, you surely have powerbar problems, or don't understand how to play the game properly!

You're right, FIFA2002 did change in the direction for the better.

Yes you can place the ball ahead of players either thru air or on the ground, and YES I can do that.

But once you've been exposed to the likes of WE6, no matter what changes EA have made so far, they just DON'T satisfy at all when compared with WE/PES.

That's why the gameplay feel like it sucks. Just cuz I know there is a game that plays so much better in every single aspect.

Dude,
I too hope FIFA2003 will get better since EA has stepped in the right direction. Though its just the matter of execution, looking at FIFA2002 and WC2002.

What football gamer would not like to have two great games??? It would be a dream to have PES2 and FIFA2003 both being a real football simulation!!
But it's true that EA has only been dissapointing us over the past years, especially when compared to Konami's efforts...

Goldfish, you have no playstation: I have two idea's for you, either of them surely will work for you:

As even the older Konami-soccergames are still better in gameplay then the newest FIFA-games do one of the two things below.

A) Buy a second hand playstation 2 ( you will be surprised howmany are offered in advertising papers) and buy PES

B) If the above is too expensive, just download an emulator like Epsxe or Pcsx or so (I prefer the Epsxe, but I can't find him anymore on the net, any help??) and rent one of the konami soccergames in a videoshop, which runs on playstation 1, like ISS pro evolution 1 or 2 and see the wonder on your own PC :)

I noticed Fifa was going crap even before I played ISS pro evo 1.
Fifa 99 was a big difference from the really enjoyable 98, with the shooting becoming really hard and the pitch being really small. Then 2000 was when things really went bad, and too be honest the gameplay in 2002 still has elements of 2000 in it, as did 2001.
In 2000 I played ISS pro evo 1, and my life changed for ever. When I played my first game the first thing I thought was how crap the graphics are, but then the gameplay took over, and I was oblivious to the ugly 16 colour graphics. I was enthralled with the master league, and then started looking forward to Pro Evo 2, while still playing pro evo 1, which was still challenging and exciting.
Pro Evo 2 brought the same graphics, but the gameplay was harder and had a slightly more realistic feel, while Fifa 2001 had its huge amounts of teams and competitions, but lacked the gameplay to keep me off the playstation.
The end was getting closer for EA and Fifa. 2002 had to be good, or I would lose faith forever.
I looked forward to Fifa 2002, which was according to EA supposed to be "the most complete and realistic sports game ever", but I was to be dissapointed, but I had another option, in the form of a PS2 and a game called PES.
The Pro Evo series have been the only footy games to capture, the excitement and drama of football. No other game has come close. TIF, FIFA, Uefa Challenge, Champions league, and many more have all failed in their challenge to de-throne the ultimate soccer sim, and I very much doubt that they ever will
:D

What exactly does an emulator do? Does it make it possible to play playstation games on a pc??? Or does it make it possible to copy playstation games to normal cd? Tell me what it actually does, thanks.

Between, I've got a DVD-drive in my computer, does the emulator work (whatever work it does) with such a thing?

epsxe is an emulator for Playstation One, not TWO.. yes you run the game on pc.

It runs on any working cd drive. To legally emulate ps games on pc, you need to own a playstation and get the bios from it.. yes i have ps but i don't know how to extract the bios so i got it off the internet (please don't ask where to get it.

You can copy playstation discs using CD writers but not playstation 2's.
There are no working ps2 which run games right now.

-------------------------------------------
If you ask why I use epsxe when i have a psone, the reason is the graphics will be enhanced greatly. Here's a screenshot of we2002 on pc whichi took myself, and resized to 640x480 res.

You have to highlight the link below, right click and select copy, then paste it into the url.

About finding the bios: Without giving a link, I suggest you to do a search on epsxe bios in a big searchprogram like Copernic, or search it manually...
