Starting XI
The following is a preview of the first FIFA installment on the XBox360. Forget it's FIFA and imagine what Konami are going to do with the next generation Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer on next gen. consoles. Like I said, forget the FIFA name and imagine the Konami equivalent.

EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 06 Road to 2006 FIFA World Cup immerses players into the emotional intensity of next generation soccer. Utilizing the power of the Xbox 360, fans will be able to revel in the world's most sophisticated representation of soccer ever.

Experience a newly enhanced gameplay engine that delivers extremely responsive controls and greater level of depth. New physics and animations mean that players will now react more realistically to every tackle, shot or pass of the ball.

For the first time you'll see and feel the joy, anguish and pain of 90 minutes of soccer in a videogame. Through the power of HD technology you'll see how the detail of the players is now accurately recreated in fine detail. Examine the threads in the club badge or watch as sweat runs down the player's face during a match.

Stadiums now burst with life and atmosphere. All-new 3D crowds pack the stands singing authentic anthems sampled from real matches. The edge of the pitch will now also include team coaches pacing the touchline plus the full preparation for every substitution and even the referee's assistants tracking the action as the match unfolds.

Team formations and strategic decisions are now managed on-the-fly during the match using a newly designed interface. An innovative, integrated menu system means you no longer have to interrupt the flow of the game to make substitutions or change tactics. Take part in the European Qualification rounds for the World Cup or create your own tournaments to showcase all the new improvements.

Prepare to truly experience international soccer.

Key Features

* Next Gen Gameplay: The most responsive and context sensitive gameplay yet seen in a FIFA video game. With a deeper sense of control and real world physics players now behave and react believably to every situation on the pitch bringing you closer to the action.
* Believable Players: For the first time ever in a soccer game players exhibit life-like body movement and facial expressions. Watch as players express the full spectrum of emotion from elation as they blast home the winning goal, to venting their anger at decisions that go against them in critical match situation.
* Immersive Environments: Experience every detail of life on pitch. A combination of the most accurately modelled stadiums from around the world brought to life with dynamic 3D crowds. Through HD you'll see and interact with a living world, right down to the individually rendered blades of grass on the pitch.
* New Presentation:Go beyond broadcast with the all new intuitive gameplay interface. The integration of this new menu system lets matches flow seamlessly while the player makes tactical changes and substitutions on the fly.
* Road to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Mode: Take part in the European Qualification rounds for the World Cup or create your own custom tournaments. FIFA Soccer 06 Road to 2006 FIFA World Cup gives you the opportunity to admire the detail of 72 teams, 1,700 players in nine different stadiums from Europe and the rest of the world.

yeah next gen sports games in general seem like they're going to be amazing... a huge leap from current gen

just think of all the new options and everything the creators have now to work with... and once the creators and developers become completely comfortable with the next gen systems i can't wait to see what there going to be capable of doing

You're missing the point of the post totally!

The point of the post was to show what can be done with soccer games on a next generation console. You can guarantee that Konami's effort will be 20x better than EA's.

By the way, the vast majority of the staff who work on the FIFA series are European and their testers are almost exclusively English and German..

Once again they over-exaggerate with those very small and very unimportant details... when I'm playing a match I'm looking at the pitch from a top-down view 99% of the time, so the priority should be there instead of all those close-up views. Give us detailed motion-captured player animations, REAL player collision detection (the times of legs sticking through eachother should be over!), real-life ball physics and an AI that responds properly on your actions and maybe even learn new playing moves when you progress with your team. All this should be easily possible for the next-gen consoles....

I know they vaguely talk about new animations and physics, but it seems they rather wanna explain how cool the facial expressions will be... :sb9:
Ah well... I guess that's what sells nowadays :nape:

Yup, no change to the gameplay at all... (N)

when you have an incredible graphics but old gameplay, you won't play the game for long time.

i hope KONAMI does surprise me in terms of graphics and gameplay. since they are not rush the next WE/PES series for the 360 launch, i believe they could do a better job. they still have almost a year (assume they release the game on October / November 2006) to develop the game

I really hope in a gameplay focused PES for next gen. consoles!
(I saw the video of Fifa for XBox360 and it doesn't impress me much looking at the pleyer movements...it's seems the same game with ultra detailed graphic)

We all know that graphically XBox360 and PS3 have no rivals...
but I see that EA Sports once again put all their efforts in a side of the game that for me is not that much important: stunning graphic.
(I don't think they will change that much the game engine)

But real football fans want: a close to real football gameplay!
Ball physics, players collisions and so on.

That's why I hope at Konami will seriously aim to make a gameplay focused simulation, to strenghten the gap with Fifa series.
Graphic is nothing when gameplay and physics are poor.

with the powerful of 360 or ps3, we can expect the we/pes graphic will have major improvement on next we/pes. like delpinsky said, put all the effort on making incredible graphics is wrong. if current-gen console able to give us fun, entertaining we/pes, i hope KONAMI able to use the power of next-gen console to create a better gameplay we/pes with better graphics.
