WE6:FE gameplay flaws.

ive never seen a thread about the bad things in gameplay of we6fe.
What bothers me the most is that my teammates often walk in my way. They dont walk "clever" into free spaces. They had to add a button to send a player in space. They run(walk) out to slow during a break out, so i often have to wait before i can give a cross.
The players control the ball way too slow when they recieve a high ball, so break outs are very hard to peform ,because defenders can get back easily.
AND the through passes are sometimes very scripted.
AND sometimes my shots on goal dont go where i aim.

but still a very good game, but i hope they fix these things in we7
post your problems in gameplay also.

I think WE6FE does have some flaws.
Some of them can be corrected using supercancel (R1+R2)
but it's not the solution I like.

I play mainly on ML Extreme, so I'm not sure if these exist
on the lower levels of difficulty.
I like the game (WE6FE), it's the best footy game out there,
but I hope they improve things in WE7.

- Goalkeepers & rebounds: there are far too many goals scored off rebounds. I've lost track of how many times the goalie would parry a shot straight to the opposing striker....it's one of the most common ways to score.
It happens equally for me and for the CPU.

- Shooting : I find the shooting not so good. You have to move the directions to move the player towards the part of goal.
Most of the time the player shoots straight to the keeper.
In WE6 you did not need to move the player physically towards
the direction you wanted to score.

-CPU AI: the CPU plays long-ball football half the time. No matter which team is playing (Real Madrid or West Ham).
They mainly rely on long-ball-flick-on-headers. Or it's just
sprinting to the sideline and doing a 180 turn.
If the CPU beats you, most of the time it's not because of playing good stylish football.

- Through balls: they used to be easy in earlier WE/ISSPE games.
Now they're too difficult. Maybe they need to be in-between.

- Tugging: while this is a good realistic aspect they have added,
I feel it is overdone. The CPU can tug you for as long as it wants and mostly it overcomes you. A foul is never called.
But if you do the same to the CPU, fouls do get called.

- CPU Bias: this has been a trademark of Konami WE games.
Getting yellow/red cards. The CPU rarely ever gets red/yellow
cards for last-man fouls. I get it 99% of the time for last-man fouls. Tugging as I mentioned earlier. The CPU can get hyper-charged during the last 10-20 minutes of the game, suddenly
getting a lot of speed, stamina. Which is another point, I doubt
if the stamina, speed stats apply to the CPU in the same manner
as it affects the player.

- Control of players: sometimes it is difficult to switch control
of players. I've noticed this sometimes when I'm defending
and the ball is bouncing around the box. I try to control my
defender and he just walks/jogs near the ball while the CPU
sprints to take the ball away.

- Collisions & recovery: Most of the time your player collides with
the CPU player, your player takes forever to get up, while the CPU is already up and gone with the ball.
This happens in 50-50 tackles, collisions, jumping for headers.

-Corners and rebounds: Have you noticed most of the time a corner is cleared the ball lands to the CPU player.

Even though I have a lot of complaints, it's still the best game I've ever played.

I've not played WE6FE, only WE6 and PES2, but I recognise each and every one of your complaints. Most of these problems have been around since the ISS Pro Days. I doubt they'll have fixed them for WE7, especially as there's no news of a new game engine.

Some of the problems are worse on level 5 (like the CPU cheats) and I guess you just have to accept that level 5 has to be more difficult, which includes "cheating" in things like speed and reaction times. It's a shame tohugh, as these things take away the fun of level 5, but lower levels are too easy.

Someday, they may find a balance between hard gameplay and fair CPU play but I think that it will take a lot more than a few tweaks to the current game engine. Maybe after WE7/PES3 are out of the way, they will put more effort into multi-player and online play, thus removing all the problems caused by playing against the CPU.

You're right. The lower levels are way too easy.
I like playing on ML Extreme and Level 5 cups. It's challenging but in a lousy way. They can make it difficult with better CPU AI.

One major gripe, it's way to easy to dribble round the keeper. I score 99% of the time like this (assuming I have controll and a 1-1)

The rest are minor annoyances..and I loke the fact that they miskick when shooting sometimes, makes it realistic (how many times does a shot go nowhere near the goal in the real game? heaps)

FE does have many flaws, the main ones that really piss me off are, through balls, cheating in ML and when the AI crams everyone in the box thus leading to no mid-field play.
Its all very very frustrating and annoying and keeps me away from playing it.

Better Computer AI, defensively and offensively. That's a common goal I would assume for the Konami team anyway, improve the gameplay basically. For example, I played a world cup level 5 with china.

Through all my games, I noticed that the computer, on offense, did not take advantage of the huge difference in skill between their teams and mine i.e. speed, stamina, ball control, shooting, the works basically. It was quite bothersome to say the least, I know bad teams can have good days, but every day! Naw, that just can't be! The AI just doesn't exploit my team's weaknesses. Once, maybe twice I "might" have seen this being done, in a game with Senegal, towards the last 15 or so mintues, my chinese team was up 2-0, Senegal finally really exploited my lack of speed in two plays, which they scored both times!

The defenive AI just needs to be smarter it seems. They bite too easily on cuts.It needs to be more agressive, yet not reckless! Especially around the PK box, the computer lets you dribble around way too easily at times! The defensive flaw is pretty minor though copared to it's offensive AI.

For your team's offensive AI, this definitely could use some work in specific situations. Players never check to, trying to make themselves open for YOU in case you have no current options. Your AI players are just making runs toward goal, never to support you. Also, once your teammates have made runs into the box, they suddenly become somewhat stagnent. It's as if they are forcing you to just cross the ball in, in doesn't recognize that you are holding the ball trying to look for someone to open up for a pass. No one to reset the offense, just you running round outside the box hoping that someone will decide to make make a run out of the box and check to so that you can start up and create some offense.

More realistic reffing. Sometimes you are about to cross the ball into the box, but to do so, you need one extra sprint to get into some open space to cross the ball around the defender, but once the ball goes ahead, the computer grabs onto you, impeding the your needed speed to get to the ball, hence the ball goes out for a goal kick!I would like a foul called or for me to be able to do the same! If not that, an animation where your player turns around hitting the defender's arm off of you and then looking to the ref for a call! Something you know, stating that something went wrong there. The last man foul I rarely seen call, atleast on behalf of the computer. I don't foul much at all. I probably might get at most, between 5-8 yellow cards a SEASON! Throw in probably 1-2 red cards as well! Anyway, that's all I can think about for now. WE6FE is a great game though, no doubt!
