Hey after reading through different forums I am convinced that WE6FE is the way to go and not WE6i like i planned and would be the easier option. I have a ps2 here in the states, if I got the game in Europe would it be compatible with my ps2? does anybody have any info on importing the game, like where from, how to, if so i would gadly appreciate any info, thanks.

i don't think it will work on your set unless you modify it.

i got the below from a singapore based website: hardwarezone.

============================
What are PS2 modchips? What do they do?
-PS2 modchips are chips that u add/solder on to your ps2. These chips bypass certain codes in the ps2, and depending on what codes they bypass, they have different functions.

============================
Why are people modding their PS2s?
-People mod their ps2 mainly have the sole purpose of making the ps2 DVD region x(able to play all region DVD movies) and play illegal games *Please Support Original!*

============================
What are the most common modchips available?

How do I boot different games using these few common modchips?

DMS3
-PS2 D9: Turn on ps2 with Reset or Eject. Put in game and close tray, able to boot from browser screen
-Ps2 DVD: Turn on ps2 with Reset or Eject. Put in game and close tray, able to boot from browser screen
-Ps2 CD: Same as Ps2 DVD
-Ps1 CD: Turn on PS2, the moment the black screen appears, press and hold to O button and release only when blue swirly screen appear. All ps1 games boot like original until next reset/turn off.
-DVD Movie: Turn on ps2, at black screen press and hold to the square button. release when blue swirls come. Boots all DVD movies(including other region) from browser screen.
-De.volution mode/fast boot to browser screen: Turn on ps2, at black screen press and hold Triangle button.
-Turning off DMS3: Press and hold reset/eject for 2 seconds while ps2 is in standby mode(red light). The modchip is turned off until next reset/turn off.
-Note: DMS3 does not need to be turned to standby mode to switch between modes. Just press reset and modchip will act like default or a new mode you just inputted. Games act like originals.

Messiah2/Messiah2 Clone/Non-reset HK messiah2
-Ps2 DVD: Turn on ps2 using reset/eject. Open disc tray, put disc in, close Disc tray. Boots from browser screen like original game.
-Ps2 CD: Same as PS2 DVD
-Ps1 CD: Put in Disc and put ps2 to standby mode(red light). Then press and hold to reset button until blue light on ps2 comes on. PS1 game will boot.
-DVD movie: Same instructions as PS1 CD for messiah2. No Region X
-Turning off Messiah2: Turn ps2 to standby mode. Press and hold reset for 5 seconds. Modchip is turned off until next standby mode.
-Note: Messiah2 has to be turned to standby and rebooted again to switch between PS2, PS1+Movie, Turn off modes. Games act like originals. Messiah2 doesn't have Region X

Magic 3.1/HK messiah2
-PS2 D9: Put in game and Tap reset to reset ps2 and game will load.
-PS2 DVD: Put game disc inside ps2, tap reset to reset ps2 and game will load from there.
-PS2 CD: Same as PS2 DVD for magic 3.1
-PS1 CD: Put in ps1 game and turn off. At ps2 standby mode, press and hold reset until blue light on ps2 comes on. Release button.
-DVD movie: Put in DVD, turn ps2 to standby mode. press and hold reset until blue light comes on. movie will load.
-Turning off Magic 3.1: Put in game. Press and hold reset for 10secs and then let go. If game is different region/tv standard as the ps2, it should not load.
-Notes: This is just an updated version of Magic 3 with fixes to the modchip making some games hang. Must turn to standby mode to change between ps2, ps1+DVD, turn off modes. Sleep function was included while they were trying to fix the buggy code.

Magic 3
-Everything is same as magic 3.1 except for D9 where booting rate is not 100%.
-Hangs on some games (Kingdom Hearts is one common example).
-Does not have a turn off function.

Messiah/Magic2/Blue Messiah
-Booting instructions for all 3 are similar so i grouped them together.
-PS2 D9: Requires swapping
-PS2 DVD: Put disc in ps2. tap reset to reset ps2 and game will boot
-PS2 CD: Put Disc in ps2. Tap reset to reset ps2 and game will boot
-PS1 CD: Put disc in ps2. turn ps2 to standby mode. press and hold reset until blue light on ps2 comes on and release. game will boot.
-DVD movie: Put disc in ps2, turn ps2 to standby mode. press and hold reset until blue light on ps2 comes on and release. movie will load.
-Notes: Requires the ps2 to be switched to standby to change between ps2, ps1+movie mode. There have been reports of these chips being able to direct boot D9, but not at 100% boot rate. Swapping gives 100% boot rate.

Sbox/Neokey
-All games require Swapping
-A few of the most troublesome Modchips. many bad reviews.

============================
So what are those "Multi/Dual layer DVDs" you mentioned on the top?
-DVDs have single side and dual sides.
For Single side DVDs, D5 is the "normal" DVD while D9 is known as "Dual layered"
Dual sided DVDs have DVD10, DVD14, DVD18. DVD10 are DVD5 on both sides, while DVD14 is D5 on one side with D9 on other. DVD 18 is both side D9.

============================
What are the disc capacities for each of these types of DVDs?
-For single side DVDs
DVD 5 ------4.7GB
DVD 9 ------8.5GB
-For Dual side DVDs
DVD10------4.7x2 = 9.4GB
DVD14------4.7+8.5 = 13.2GB
DVD18------8.5x2 = 17GB

============================
Which modchips can play such games successfully without problems?
-Current available modchips with multi layer DVD 100% support are the DMS3, Messiah2 and Magic 3.1. The rest either are not 100% booting rate or need swapping to boot.

============================
I heard that there is a Messiah2 and Messiah2 pro chip. which one should i get?
-Messiah2 is the main term for this whole series of chips:
Messiah2 pro
Messiah2 Jap
Messiah2 Eur
Messiah2 U/C
Messiah2 Custom
Basically there are no differences in all their functions, they are only different in their ps2 type compatitability.
Please check the Messiah2 Homepage and scroll down from their main page to find the compatibility chart which will explain this.
So just get ur ps2 to a trustable/reputable dealer, and let them mod your ps2 with a compatible Messiah2
Recommended trustable shops: I-con and MM
I-Con
Mega Multimedia

Any other websites with charts regarding the modchips?
-Yes I have one, but a little of his info are not very accurate, whilst it's mostly accurate.
Click Here
This page loads quite slow so please wait.

I know this has nothing to do with modchips, but my X-port/Sharkport messed up my AR2 dongle! Help!
-Ok first of all, cool down, take a deep breather and we'll continue. Load the AR2, holding on to start, select, L1, L2, R1 and R2 during the bootup. This will initiate a reset of the AR2 dongle. Then, use the AR2 to download save files from the computer, not the x-port software, to the dongle.
credits go to iceboy83 for this useful little piece of info

Note: Regarding the Messiah2 naming confusion
There are many clone chips under the name "Messiah2" and can be quite confusing when trying to name the chip.
"Messiah2 Clone" shall be used when referring to the clone chip that uses Actel chips and is almost identical to the authentic messiah2 in terms of layout, look and functions.
"HK messiah2" or "Taiwan Messiah2" will be used on the clonechips that are actually based on magic 3/3.1 code and named messiah2 only for marketability.
"Non-reset HK Messiah2" or "Non-reset Taiwan Messiah2" shall be used on the clone chips that are using Datel or Ubicom chips unlike the Actel chip which messiah2 uses, named messiah2 for marketability, and do not need reset to be pressed to load the game.

the way to differentiate HK messiah2 and messiah2 clone, is that the messiah2 clone can direct boot by pressing eject to close the disc tray while the hk messiah2 needs to press reset to boot.

hope this new naming system will prevent possible confusion in naming/referring to these chips.
