WE8, the "crap" bits

Ok, I aint seen a thread like this, if there is one, delete.

But with every game, there are good parts, and crap parts..

I want peoples opinion on what they think makes WE8 crap. I want to see if everyone has the same opinions or mixed..

I'll start, this game is very good, but theres just 3 main things that absolutely destroy it for me:

1 - As usual, the computer rips you off so much its unbelievable, the cpu gets to 99/100 loose balls, wins about 99/100 headers in there own box, outrun you with a 70 speed defender while you are Henry with around 95 speed, when you just walk into the ball it goes alot harder than any shot I have seen.

2 - The player physics, they seem like a bunch of blow-up dolls, the slightest touch will send them rolling around the ground. Yet playing against the cpu, the only time I see them fall down is when I snap there ankle from behind. And it isnt a balance issue, it happens with any player, shape and size, except the cpu players of course.

3 - The AI, the way I see it, Pacman has more AI than WE8, if you go just 1 player you will realise how utter crap the AI is, even on 5 stars your players play like the ML starter team on 1 star. An utter disgrace.

Thats it, those 3 things alone spoil the game for me, please post your opinions.

If you start using your R2 button some more, or even the r1+r2 combination (to cancel the players' movements), you see that your first point makes no sense.

I do press R2 to run, and it doesnt make a difference in speed..

If you understand where you press R2 and turn, so he puts in in front of him and runs onto it, the defenders still always get in front of me.

And what kind of an opinion is "I disagree"?..

hey, i couldn't agree more on the three points you mentioned there, unfortunately, as for point 3, that's the main reason any simulation soccer game is not as good as we would like, the AI is not that smart! I don't know if you've seen I robot with Will Smith, but i don't see how the movie will be remotely plausible in 20 years if the AI is this primitive today! Okay, one more caviat, give us more flexibility in the management of the view...it's great to win the sky view, but why not win the sky view with variable height adjustments and angles?

But the CPU has perfect AI, why cant my team have good AI to make it more fair?..

I really like just going one player, but the AI lets it down, because if I dont set up the goals, my team lose about 3-0.

They tried to be FIFA in terms of graphics . . . Addin` shining effects on hairs and kits, which causes slowdowns . . . Man, they should`ve keep it the old-school style, I don`t mind a bit of cartoony look as long as the gameplay flows . . .


And one more thing, they really, really should consider releasing WE with multilanguage features.

That was one of my points in PES3 that I hoped had disappeared in PES4.. If you have a player highlighted you shouldn't need to use R1+R2 supercancel. The only thing that i can see this is there for is because the programming or AI is not good enough.

There's a flaw in the software .... and that is why Supercancel is there , but it needs fixed...


again playing PES3 tonight me and my son seen it a plenty, your highlighted player chasing a 50/50 ball the CPU get to it 1st and as he is bringing it under control my highlighted player who i had sprinting at the 50/50 ball, suddenley pulls up and only once the cpu player has the ball under control , does my player continue to run .. you say press suprercancel.

I say the game is flawed if you have to do this in the 1st place. You should not need to, if you control the player WHY does he in these and other situations pull up or as i have seen turn away, even pressing SC breaks your stride and give the CPU an advantage..

I had thought that in PES4 , they would have fixed this fault, has anyone asked Konami why the player(s) you are controlling against the CPU suddenly stop,slow down and or turn away from a CPU player when your going for a 50/50 ball be it on the desk or as a CPU bring a high ball down on his chest, why does my player stop slow down or even turn away when the CPU player does this????

This is not a flame of the game but it is a fault in the gameplay, and I would like to know why it happen, and if it is still in PES4 why can't they fix it!

But having to use SCancel ruins the flow of the game, even with SC you don't use it unitl you see your player doing this slow down , stop or turn away and using it still give a stop start to you player.. I think this ruins the flow.

i disagree, i was playing with just C.Ronaldo, and my team was finishing all my crosses and passes, they were playing better then i was and the cpu, later i played as only Ricardo(the keeper) and i had 1 shot on net, my team was killing them, and it was england vs portugal. i think it matters who you play with, who you are, and who your teammates are just like in real life

you can play as a goalkeeper?

how does that work?

is it just as simple as choosing the direction of the save?

uh no...

before u start the game, u can choose as to how much automated the goalie u want it to be..

or u can reduce it to manual and yes, u can choose when and what direction to save.. come out or not etc..

so when a pro plays, u won't be able to chip the ball over or fake shot so easily.


only 2 crap bits I've found so far in WE8 but I think they will fix it for sure in PES4 release..

1) shiny hair... becomes white when light shine on them
2) lags a bit in the penalty area..but both of those can easily be fixed so I'm not too worry...

Well I played against Middlesbrough on 5 stars, while I went Real Madrid..

10/10 Madrid would rape them, but all they do is just walk into them as if they dont exist, thus losing the ball..

My only problem is Slowdown. Other than that I LOVE the difficulty of the game. Lets face it. If the game were to easy we would have a million people complain about how Konami made the game way too easy.

I have none of the problems you are talking about. You are having problems with the positioning. Learn how to play before you bash.

This game is a simulation, not an arcade game.

Lol will you people stfu?..I know how to play the same, I been playing the series since PRO1, so just cut the ****.

The problems are the AI, theres nothing I can do that will make it better ok?..

And you cant run fast, what can I do?..big deal you press R1 to run, but my players run slow, if there is another way then tell me, if not stop talking ****.

dude if u dont like the game dont play it u dont need to make up stuff about the game to compancate for ur own bad playing no ones there with a gun to ur head forcing u to play it and like it , the game play is fine i agree on the the laggin in the penalty area..but i noticed that every single one had that problem..so why u complaining now ? since you've been playing since "pro1" , and i do agree the shin is a hint too much , but considering wat the game has to offer over the last i can over look it u dont really notice it anyway unless ur watching a replay from close up or a cut sceane..and the running is fine its more realistic i just have to adapt to the timing of it and using the fast running technique where u kick the ball further..i could help but comment when i read ur post dude
