Imagine how boring a forward lineup of Ronaldo and Ruud would be.

A great goalscorer, and while it is sad to see him leaving the club, the club will move on. Even if Fergie doesn't find a natural replacement for him, we can still move forward on a more dynamic and well-rounded team. As great as he was, our team play (even the "midfield" that we had) was better with Saha in the lineup. A fit Saha brings more to the team, in my opinion, than Ruud has in the last season or two.

Anyways, I wish Ruud the best of luck at Madrid or whichever club he goes to, and hope that he can cement a starting role there and prove that he is still class as a finisher.

i Hope ruud doesnt go to Madrid. Der can be possibility of him being on bench more often or on substitution like owen had. Very sad to see him go. But Best Of luck to him.

He's turned into a lazy bum, I think it's time for him to go..

He needs a fresh challenge.

Thanks Ruud, for all the great memories.

He'll do well wherever he ends up.

I don't know what to think, we don't need forwards.

We must worry about the CB, LB, DM, and CM problems we have before another forward comes in

Im not sure I agree with the assessment that this is going to work out for United. If they spend that money well and people can step up in his absence, then yeah. But its very possible the team played better without him as a matter of upping their games without the presence of a pure goal scorer. Im probably wrong with that, but I think long term they might end up missing that clock-like consistency, even if their brand of play becomes more quality overall

Not a bad return for a 30 year old, eh?
Try 31 million!

They already have Alan Smith. Let the man play his natural position as a striker, I was always a huge fan of his when he was at Leeds, he was undoubtedly one of the most talented young players I have ever seen. And then I tune in a year or two later and he's playing DM for Manchester United. What the hell?

Rooney, Saha, Smith and Rossi are capable of scoring the goals in the team, as well as the others. Ruud leaving wouldn't be that bad.

Good think to bring RvN to Madrid is that, with another goalscoring beast behind, the competition will force Ronaldo to move his fat ass once and for all (if both don't play together, something that would be a disaster :S)

I'm quite happy to see him go, the only thing that does bother me, is that van Nistelrooy could come out looking like another one of Fergie's victim, when infact, van Nistelrooy and his agent have been working on a move for two years, behind the club's back. Twelve months ago, AC Milan were only one phone call away from signing him (only needed to put in a good offer), but they decided to go for Gilardino instead.

Cry me a river shokz.

While some of the other points in ur post might be true and for everyone to see, your accusation of Ruud's flattering with other clubs imo is just... uncalled for. You've emphasized this point a few times in the past, but what makes you so convinced that what you heard, from Ruud's friend's friend's friend, or a friend's friend who's working for a newspaper (Sun?), is the truth, is way beyond my understanding. I am not taking any of this shiit unless you could provide me with some creditable source.

I've been told the same thing by a friend of mine who works in the football industry and has close links with Ruud and Utd .

And no I didn't make that up, but if you want to believe me, shokz or anybodyelse is entirely up to you. Sometimes you just have to believe without getting a optical proof.

Ruud/Linse were looking at the possibility to move - during the last 2 summers, if it was with or without Utds knowledge is irrelevant, because Utd did look aswell for potential buyers. They're not angels either.

For Ruud it became impossible now to continue to work with Fergie/Queiroz and the otherway around. I have no doubt he'll do well wherever he goes. (linking up with Becks again - is a breathtaking thought)

For Utd it remains to be seen if it will be a big loss or not sportingwise: What is clear is: it is definetly a loss of persona and character inside the Utd dressing room.
Who appart Gaz are willing to speak up? Heinze, Rooney maybe, Scholes was never a talker and neither is Giggs and Solskjaer) the Fergie/Queiroz/PR Machine may roll on unhinderd.

When Utd sold off and shipped out Stam, Becks and Keane, they not only lost good players but important characters of the team which I mean, are still not replaced up until today.

Utd do have some quality upfront with Rooney, Saha if fit (but he'll never be 20+goals a season man for Utd), Rossi looks like a great player and don't forget Mr Smith. He did carry Utd a few times aswell when he was the only fit striker + he's a toplad on and off the pitch. btw Everyone now "hyping" for Solskjaer should get their mind checked ASAP

Anyway Utd still needs good Midfielders and so far they're not close to getting any.

But hey the new website, the new shirts, sponsors and quadrants and making Ruud an evil human being will all take the spotlight away from that...

That Nice Guy
what a wankly named thread. Anyway, bit sad to be honest, always liked Ruud at Man Utd, thought he was a classic "old" striker in a sea of new pansy-like-front men.

Right place at the right time, pity him and Rooney couldnt stay together.

They need more than that Fernandez.

This is a club falling apart in front of your very eyes.
The manager is too old and has lost the plot entirely. Man management skills he does not have, and in this day and age, considering the "delicate" personalities that players possess, man management is very important.

And ask yourselves this. Why do players want to leave Man U with such frequency these days? Is it the players or is it Ferguson or is it the club. These embarrassing episodes never used to happen at all. Players used to retire at Man U or get sacked, now they do not want to stay. Something is wrong for sure and the players cant be the only ones at fault.

It amazes me that while Ferguson is mis- managing affairs and destroying everything that is Man U, some fans still will not critisize the bloke. Its easy to say "good riddance to Ruud, he is past his best anyway", but by the same token, isn't there a chance that Ferguson is also past his best?

It's Uncle Malc who decides whether Ferguson goes or not, not as if he got a decent enough knowledge about football.
