Just place him back to general training with the rest...
Since he is already 26 so he is no longer a youngster hence no point training him to play in another position or asking him to learn how to play in the centre position.

put him on a different training schedule. i got training schedules for each position and i just put the players into the schedule for their position where they concentrate on stats they need (eg defenders train tactics+fitness rather than shooting).
