What are the top games on PS2 that i should buy?

I am gonna buy a PS2 this weekend. What are the top games out? i may buy 2 games with it dpeneding on how much change i have. I am definitely buying one game.

Here are my faves.

Midnight Racing 2
Vice City
Gran Turismo 3
Us Soccom
Splinter cell


Which one should i buy??? I am mainly leaning towards either US Soccom or Midnight Racing 2. Anyone played US Soccom??

Please give reasons for what game i should buy.

One gaem i recommend, if your into the sport, is Madden 2004.

Its the best sports game ever made. With new options like Owner Mode and the Playmaker Control its worth every penny.

And Vice City is really goos also, cuz if u dont feel like doing the missions u can just cruise around town and just mess around with the cops and stuff.

basically, it's MGS2: Sons Of Liberty with a bunch of added on extras and bonuses like VR Missions, Snake's Tales where you play the Raiden part of the game as Snake and a bunch of other crap like that

I like the sound of Gran Turismo 4. The Terminator game comes out soon and looks very good.

What things are repetitive in Midnight Club II?

Tony Hawk 4 is pretty awesome.

I really enjoyed Medal of Honor.

Also, Vice City is hands down my favourite game on PS2/PC. You've already got that so you'd most likely know.

Max Payne is pretty good too.

That you find a driver, then do you basically do the same race over and over again. i just didnt like it after 5 hours...

Primal - (simply just a great adventure game, with incredible huge levels, and no loading times)
Silent Hill 3 - ( not as good as the last one, but still good)
Guilty Gear Double X - ( Great fighting game)
Virtua Fighter Evolution - ( fantastic Hardcore fighting game)
The Gateway - ( Great gameplay, you love it)
Nba Street Vol. 2 - ( Great, great game..)
Gran Turismo 4 - (Unrivaled , the best racing games franchise, this time around including multiplayer)
./Hack ( If you like long intriging rpgs, this one for you)
Colin Mcrae Rally 3 - ( you'll stick to playing this game for a long time, trust me)
Splinter Cell - ( If you haven't already tried it out)
Contra - ( a must own for all ps2 owners)
MGS2 Substance - ( in my opinion, way better than splinter cell, but you migh as well just wait for number 3)
Red faction 2 - ( Good, but not very long)
Xenosaga - ( it'll keep you playing for a long time)

Those are the only ones i own, but i can tell you, they're all top quality.
I heard "Zone of Enders: second runner up" is pretty good too....But i can't tell you for sure..

How much is the playstation now, last i saw it was $199 and they were giving for free, a network adapter(internet play), and a free classics game.

there are loading times. when you switch between characters if you were far away it can take up to 15 seconds to load

Yeah, and when you load up a level too, but what i meant was that there are no continous loading times (unlike some other games). Had to rewrite that part , because of my stupid browse...

Just changed to Mozilla, it never gives me any problems....

I bought US Socom, Splinter Cell, Midnight Club 2 and Ghost Recon (which came free with Splinter Cell.


I am really impressed with PS2 and the quality of the games.

Oh cool. Is Socom worth getting? I love the demo (from OPS2M)

Yeh SOCOM is very good. Quite detailed in fact. The only thing is i am used to playing these types of games on PC where you get the freedom of a mouse when moving. Its hard to adjust to using a control pad for a game like this.

Otherwise SOCOM is well worth the money because the headset is of decent quality as it is made by Logitech rather than some cheap piece of crap and its a good game with decent graphics.
