What are those yellow squares in Tm Mgt?

When I check my team roster, I often notice a yellow square to the left of some of my players. At first I thought it meant that my player had picked up a yellow card the game before. Then I realized that couldn't be correct.

I looked under "Team Management" in the booklet, but like most of the book, it wasn't helpful.

Any ideas?

that player has a yellow card. Im not sure if it shows up only when you have a certain match upcoming or it is for all tournaments. For example, does a yellow card still show up if the player has yellow card in league play, but the next match for the team is in euro champions cup?

cards in league v. cup

league cards do not carry over into UEFA cup play.....I have a few guys toting cards at the moment, but my next game is a UEFA tie with Lazio, and none of the cards are showing up in team management.

the card that they carry over doesn't actually apply to the next match, i.e. they won't get sent off for getting one yellow in the following match, but if the player accumulates that second yellow card on the season, he will have to serve a one match ban. Basically a player will miss a game for every two yellows or one red.
