Come on guys, be real, if people are gonna cheat, then they are gonna cheat, nothing is going to stop them. What's the point of ruining it for everyone else just for the odd couple that can't play the game without cheating.
The way i see it is that you aren't really changing it that much, cheaters are still going to cheat.
oh dont be so naive! People cheat for attention, and to be noticed you have to do something to be noticed, proving that you did really well true points and facts proves this, and you get lots of praise. Doing it our way you have people make opinions on how you do, its not set in stone - Fortunately here at SG we arnt monkeys so it aint exactly difficult to see a cheat from a bit off.
Another thing, if we made stats it would make it too competitive, when the Quarterly Challenge was first created long before you came to these forums it was meant to be a fun idea, something that everyone could participate in. NOT A COMPETITION, that wasn’t the idea, and it isn’t now.
However, unfortunately some people feel the need to be competitive, feel the need to win everything. These people ruin things for everyone else. They will strive to win at WHATEVER COST, however big the prize is (praise, money, RECOGNITION). I emphasize 'whatever cost' and 'recognition' because they go hand in hand, we all know that even if we do not 'allocate stats for wins etc' we will still get cheats, but by NOT doing this it means they will not get the recognition that they oh so want.
It is the same principle as in postboosting, people postboost to gain respect, to gain recognition, and will do it at whatever cost, no matter how short the post they will still reply. Just to be known as "a big poster". As is the same with life, everyone attention seeks, and no matter how hard we all try to stop people doing so, they will inevitably win, terrorists are attention seekers, we wont ever stop terrorism. Its a losing battle that where only damage limitation is the best thing to come out of it. Hence the best way to stop attention seeking is to stop paying attention to them.
HENCE, why we are not doing a statistical system which will draw attention to cheats, this way, no-one is 'clarified' as the top dog, or crowned the champion.
TROD.
