Hey I take offense to that...............

well its never gonna happen of course..........because it is purely a European competition......but thats no reason for ppl to get all aggressive about the idea........the MLS are trying hard to promote their football and that has to be respected worldwide.......but give them time and support and they will improve of course.......as far as i am concerned the more continents that produce good football leagues has to be encouraged........good luck to the MLS....i hope they succeed in their progress....this will only encourage the promotion of football in the USA

Now you know how we felt when they allowed Mexican teams in Libertadores....but the difference is Mexican clubs are capable of winning it, or at least challenge for the title....

no the difference is that Mexico were allowed to play in the Coppa Libertadores....but theres no way American teams will / should be in the European Cup.

and as for that person who said that the MLS is equivalent to Italy's Serie B ..... HAH ! you don't know what you're talking about. Serie A teams often get hammered by Serie B teams. Its extremely competitive - often even more so than the Serie A.

The MLS is comparable to the Serie C2 at best.

But thats not the point. It is the European Cup and should remain that way.

They were allowed to play and shouldn't have been, imho.
It's a different confederation, Mexico is Concacaf and the rest of the libertadores is Conmebol...
I'm against Mexican teams in Libertadores the same way I'm against USA in Euro Cup... my point was that at least Mexican teams can compete well in Libertadores, which wouldn't happen for USA teams

Like you said European Cup for European teams, Libertadores for South American teams...

Mexicos too good for CONCACAF (H)

...and they want to play in CONMEBOL tournaments (like Libertadores and Copa America) because the level of soccer in these cups is something unseen in all CONCACAF competitions. And CONMEBOL teams actually put up a fight. :p

Really stupid thought but didn't DC United win the Inter-American Cup back in 1999 beating the supposed best team in South America? I'm not saying that we could beat Boca, River, Sao Paolo, etc. but we would be competitive. And as for Mexico being in Copa America, they get an invatiation, much like Trinidad and Tobago did, or Costa Rica. Also, Mexico needs to be able to beat the US, it would help that claim since they haven't won in how many game versus us. Just putting a fact out there, not trying to say that a team shouldn't look for the best competition they can find.

the overall Mexico vs USA record is very onesided in Mexico's favor. So we are "able to beat the US". ;) And yes u guys have dominated recently, which means u guys have gotten better.

...so then not counting the US then, who else puts up a fight? Costa Rica sometimes.

I wouldn't have thought was a good idea

Could have an Americas competition with North(CONCACAF) and South American teams but not really mix them with Europeans
