What is the difference between ISS, PES and WE????

I only have a PC, and only play the FIFA series of games.

A few days ago, I played PES2 on my friends PS2. After 30 minutes, I wen't back to my PC and uninstalled FIFA. I can never go back to it.

So, as a TOTAL newcomer to the Konami series of games, can someone please spell it all out for me.

What are all the different Konami games/series?

What is the difference between them?

What platforms are they available on?

ISS = The Arcade version from Konami game. It's developed by KCEO (Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka). It's available for PC currently & PSone (very old version : ISS Pro '98 in North America).
The game is not as great as WE/PES. Unless you like the arcade, this should fit into you.

ISS3 for PC.


WE = Japanese version of the greatest simulation soccer game on the planet. It's developed by KCET (Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo). Currently, WE (Winning Eleven) 6 : Final Evolution is the latest of WE series. And, it's only available for 2 consoles : Japanese PS2 & Gamecube system. You can play this game with American PS2 by placing the modchips or a knife-trick method. For full details about the patching for Japanese WE version, follow this link.

PES = European version of WE series. It's the same company i.e KCET that developed the WE series. The latest game is PES2, which is based on Japanese WE6. The only minor difference : They fixed the small bugs from Japanese version of WE6.

Last, but not least, lucky for us (North America), we finally got the WE6: International for PS2 console only that is basically the same as PES 2 in Europe. They are both the same game.

okay, so there is basicly two games.

ISS is the arcade version

PES/WE is the sim version. The name depends on which country you are in.

Although, some of the screen shots of WE I have seen (final evolution or something) look different from PES2 that I played. More detail, and looked like it had official licenses. PES2 had all misspelled player names, and made up team names.

I know now that ISS3 is comming to PC. Will this be arcade like ISS, or as it is for PC, will it be a hardcore game, as in, PES/WE, but converted to PC and sold under the ISS banner?


Would be so much simpler if they just called them (inserat name here) 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, etc, etc, and had just one series across all platforms. very confusing.

Because you can get patches to get official names, shirts etc.

Nope ISS3 for pc is from KCEO. So it will be arcade like

FOR ****S SAKE Why does the PC have to have all the ****ing arcady like games!!!??? Most Football Gamers that only have a PC like simulation games not arcady games!! I want feel like a real player and feel the passion not see how many goals i can score against a CPU who probally has an IQ of 2!!!:f***: :f***: :f***: :f***:

Pretty much the same like original ISS, I think.

Yeah, I had the same thought like you couple of years ago when I was a newbie for Konami's soccer. But, eventually, you'll get used to it.

WE 6 FE is the best game if you can put up with all the patches.I have WE 6 FE patched with WEDOiT 2.0 and 3.0 is coming and I have to patch it all over again.It is aggrevating.I think I'll just buy WE6i with the english.;) :rolleyes:

okay, I think I almost have it all now.

Which WE game is PES2 equivilent to, because the screenshots I saw of WE6:FE look a lot better. The stadiums had great detail, banners, etc.

yeah ... im also a newcomer and find al these ISS , WE and PES, WEI very confusing ...

but basically to not go wrong just get WE6:FE and there you go since thats the best game of all. plus have it patched to get the right names and jerseys

what about the upcoming ganes ???
I know WE7 will be out this July .... will that game be the same one as PES3 for example ?
