Well you see....that IS THE POINT....like I said before, they should inculde skill moves, but only the really good players should be able to use them, and they too shouldn't be able to do them 100% perfectly all the time...

My Bit

I havent posted on here for ages. I always pay a visit every now and then though. Heres my take on it all.

Firstly, I live in the UK and although im a Villa fan I know a fair bit about the beautiful game!

Firstly, on the skill moves, perhaps it would be a good idea to have the star players be the only ones who can pull off the skill moves and limit it so they can only do it once a game. It isnt very often you see the same player pull the same trick off several times in a game.

As for the drunken tackling. Granted it can look a little odd at times but in a REAL game off football you just wouldnt tackle from those sorts of angles. If you try to tackle someone from a decent sorta angle then the game has got it spot on. The way you dont always take the ball, it goes loose and can be picked up by anyone. The tackling is one of the best things about this game, as long as you do it from realistic positions. From what I can tell from the Demo, this is the best fifa game to date and the best football game Ive played. The passing is excellent, the goalkeepers are better. The games harder and the players movement is much better. Tackling is much better. More player annimations and better graphics. the ball phyisics are a great deal better too. The only thing that still needs a fair bit of work is the rocket like headers you get every so often.

anyway back to my original point, u guys say NOONE stumbles around after a tackle like that, well really NOONE would attempt a tackle like that. you only stumble around when u r tackling from a stupid postion, if u know as much about Assocition Football (or Asoc. football, or 'soccer football, or SOCCER), as u think u do, than u would realise this. You would also realise that spiro d dragon was spot on in saying it is an accurate tackling system. No you dont stumble around like that, but NO you dont try and make tackles like that...

All u ppl that agreed with the tackling thing, u r intelligent ppl, not only for realising this, but for realising, just because EA are a big company, and do make some mistakes with their games(esp. previous games!), doesnt mean that everything they do is wrong.

I have to agree with you here, about the Tackling system, it IS very realistic and believe it or not, 2002 FIFA World Cup is now the most wanted game.

I still don’t think I’ll get it, but Matt has informed me that the Crazy Headers happen less often now!

Maybe it’s a PC programming bug in the demo??

Oh and yeah sKIp_E right, most people, most professional players wouldn't try tackles from stupid angles, they know what they're doing, I guess we need to train, so that we avoid the stumbling, which has happened to me in real life when I tried to tackle my mate, I went in at a bad angle and stumbled slightly, then he got tackled!

sometimes it may be acceptable to see a player droping off when trying to tacle. and even two players droping off trying to tacle the same player at the same time... but just sometimes... but if I ever witness a match in which three players try to tacle the same opponent and drop off all the time and the opponent never does, I will not even bother watching it... it is a total failure for ea as they always made me expect better stuff as the following release. even now before the date of release, I dream of a future ini.big file to make the gameplay worthy... otherwise its place for my cd self is booked already...

it is also embarrising for me to be adviced to play against a lower level even playing pro as I myself have always been an expert of fifa series. I don't know what achivement you have but I know I have once scored 6 goals against worlclass in fastest 2 minute option. I don't think I will ever reply the same succes with this bloody game on horizon...

Yes, the new tackle have a great animation but is unreal.If you push over and over to a player, in real life its foul and the other player fall or let him fall (sorry for my english) to the referee mark foul. The animations is good but is inverse in the real life.
And another thing, the cpu dont make any foul or sometimes 1 in a match. EA dont see any match of football.Please more foul by the cpu.More pausses by cpu players to think your plays. Diffenrents strategies by the cpu depending the score (win,looes or tie). More clearence out of field when the player are under pressure.The headings are imposibbles in the box.
Please more heads over the bar. More shots miss his target, over the bar and out of field. Less shots or heads in the post or in the bar.Change of rithym (ritmo) by the players.
The world class must be dificult but the cpu players play like a robots without mistakes. More dificult = more variance and inteligence the get the goal.
More realistic movements of the keepers and rebounds. More samerter keepers. More cut center by the keepers. Corners with more players. Change players by the cpu not only when the player have a lesion.Change of strategies by the cpu in the middle of the match.
Come back the rapid 3 strategies like Fifa2001 and the posibility of 2 or more players choose your teams in 1 cpu.
Real values: Zidane, Beckam, Veron are a great players but not perfects. They make mistakes. Less passes by the cpu.Less back passes by cpu. In real life the players try croos, lob or trough passes and make mistakes in your try.Please more realistic gameplay.
EA put your attention in the graphics. The graphics are great but the gameplay are the soul of this game and EA never listening to us.

Note:Headers. I make a goal with pires from the middle of the field. the ball go in rect line to the goal with an incredible power, very unrealistic. And take off the fire balls.Star abbilitys: the players are perfects.And please EA the movement of the ball are not realistic yet. The ball sustain a long time on the air.Please fix that and when the keeper in trow ins so far into the box go for the ball in an stupid place and let the goal alone (in some crosses or lob passes with effect too)

Anybody make a goal with the head in the box??? Is imposible.Always win the cpu in your area,and of course never make a foul.

I'm really happy that after starting this topic with posts that show a really negative opinion about the game, more and more people come here, who realize, that this is the best game EA has done so far. Of course we have to wait for the full version to make a correct decision, but I'm really happy with what I've seen so far, as I said a few posts before.
This obviously doesn't mean, that the game is perfect...The situation is, that it is more good than bad.

And again about the tackles....What I think EA wanted to represent with the "drunken tackling", is the shoulder-to-shoulder battle in soccer, which isn't marked as a foul. Of course when you start to pull the player back from behind is foul, but the referee doesn't say anything, because he plays the advantage rule (the player who got fouled keeps the ball).

So altogether it is a really great game, I hope we won't be disappointed with the full version, just as with World Cup `98.

I wish there's a PC ISS game that'll show these FIFA fanboys how far EA is behind in gameplay. Body contact? We've had that for years already. Realistic tackling? Konami perfected it. I know you've heard it a millon times already, but if you really havent played PES then you havent seen nothing yet!

I'm really happy for you, but at this time I don't care sh*t about console games, you know why? because I don't have one. How surprising....Howeber, I guarantee you, the as soon as I get a machine, I will try this FANTASTIC game, and I will share my thougts with, and if it's better than FIFA, then it is better. That'd be just good for us.
But now I've only got a PC, so please spare me these informations, I will take a look at the PES forum by the time I've got anything to do with that game.

I must admit that I havent played the console soccer games either, but I do believe that if there is a better soccer game out there than Fifa, and from most posts, it sounds a lot better, I think it only fair that we compare the two. It does sound that there a ppl who are happy with Fifa, some not happy and some that think it mediocre. I do not see this with the ISS game. The majority who have played it think extremely high of it, something along the lines as we once thought of Fifa 98. Therefore, I think it essential that we critique the shortcomings of Fifa as it is the only way we can hopefully influence EA to make more improvements than they have done over the years, and the best way to do this is to compare it to a superior product. Imagine if Konami changed their philosphy, and brought ISS to the PC. How many people do you think would jump ship? I'm betting a lot.

didn't we see something similiar in a FIFA game a few years ago? I can't remember which one... maybe 97 or 98

but I remember you could score with a header from the half way line and also steal the ball from the GK when he is holding it about to kick it

This Is Football

Has anyone played the game which was developed by Sony & also called This is Soccer or World Tour Soccer? (PS2)
In my opinion it is absolutely the best representation of the beautiful game.

Interestingly, Sony's first effort at this game was really bad. Typical of Sony, they researcghed the market very well & the game improved to an amazing level. If the Sony developers can do it, why can't the team at EA Canada? They have launched the FIFA series twice a year for the last 7 years. Each year they make only a subtle change. Maybe we give EA Canada too much credit? Maybe they are just not good enough. Just like any sport or any profession, some people are better than others. Maybe this is really the best that EA Canada can do. All I know is that they piss me off!
Do yourselves a favour & buy This Is Football.
