What to see in Chicago?

Yeah, I'm heading there next week during the Thanksgiving Break.

I'll be there only for about two full days so time is very limited and staying at a hotel called Hotel 71, which is supposedly a good location.

Currently in my plans, obviously I'm going to go to see Sears Tower and the Milennium Park also probably to United Center just to check out where the Bulls play.

I tried looking around online for where to go but there was just too many, I didn't know what to fit in for two days.

So, any suggestions?

If anyone remembers the game in 2000 when the Bulls beat the Spurs by a single point... I was there (H)

Chicago's great though but I was 8 so I can't really tell you much more, haha

You could check out Grant Park, which is where Obama had his party when he was elected President. Walk down Michigan Avenue, there's tons of shops. Eat a meal at Uno, which is right off Michigan, that's the original Chicago Style Pizza place. Navy Pier is cool. The Shed Aquarium is pretty sweet. Sears Tower is definitely a place to go. You could go check out Wrigley Field, you won't be able to get in, but it's really cool from the outside too if you have any interest in baseball (which you probably don't actually). There's some pretty cool blues clubs, and if you're 21 there's also some pretty cool club clubs, but I wouldn't know which ones are any good. After that, ask someone at your hotel for suggestions, especially if there's a concierge. That's what they do.

I would say stay away from the United Center (which is wear the Bulls play). It's in a pretty awful neighborhood. Same for US Cellular Field where the White Sox play.

Lots of stuff to do, but most of my suggestions are centered right around that trendy stretch of Michigan Avenue.

Last time I visited Chicago I got to see the impound lot. I wasn't impressed.

One piece of advice: if you're thinking about parking on Columbus Dr. between 4 and 6 PM, don't. Not even if you just need 30 minutes to run to Athens Grocery to buy two pounds of feta cheese, two jars of Marco Polo ajvar and a jar of kalamata olives. Don't do it. Don't even think about it. For the love of God, read the fine print on the sign before you park anywhere.

And if the homeless guy on Carlos*son Dr. asks you for spare change because you look so wide-eyed and touristy, even though he asked you 15 minutes earlier and apparently doesn't recollect the brief conversation you two had, just smile politely and walk away.

Yeah, you could say hotel 71 is in an ok location. It's on Wicker Drive at Michigan Avenue, as downtown as you can get. Just don't go swimming in the river. But if you're worried about travel: the L (local metro system) rocks, just be sure you know where to get off.

I see you're not 21 yet. Too bad, the blues bars on North Halsted and bars in general are top notch. Not sure you're allowed in the cocktail room high up in the Hancock building, that's one awesome way to avoid the tourist queue at Sears and still enjoy spectacular views, especially at night.

thanks for the info guys.

I don't think I'll have any time for all the clubs at night though.

Pity I'm only there for one night, heading off to Michigan City next.

Don't stop. Just keep on walking. Everything you see here will ruin any perception you have that this is a good city. It sucks. Everybody who lives here wishes they didn't. Stay in your hotel, smoke a J or two, masturbate to that Lindsey Lohan .gif where her titties are bouncing (back when she was hot) and enjoy. Bears sucks bulls suck cubs suck sox suck blackhawks are actually doing okay...

Michigan Ave is awesome at night, but tonight it was 17 degrees, and windchill right off the lake was 3 degrees. Enjoy.

Along those lines....

If a guy named Charles tells you that he's gonna take you to Dennis Rodman's stripclub, don't follow him because you feel obligated to. Seriously, just tell him off. Tell him you're not interested. The last thing you want to do is to follow him because you're scared to tell a black guy to go **** himself. If you don't believe me, ask Joe, he'll tell you the same thing.

Michigan City? Um.....................

Ah Chicago, man. It probably tops my list of city's I want to see.
Anyone else remember racing around Chicago in Midtown Madness? Oh, the hours of fun I had with that game...I think one of my favourite games ever.
