What would you do if EA did for FIFA what they did for Madden?

If PES were froze out of access to, for example, the FIFPro license (the one that gives them access to player names) by EA, that would in fact affect sales.

I remember back in the N64 days when Konami did not have a lick of a FIFpro license the players in International Superstar Soccer had very generic names, however fun the game was, it was kind of a point of ridicule to note that none of the players in the game had real names; that hurt sales...........then again, that was also around the time of RTWC 98 and that was by far the best game EA sports ever made..in terms of depth and everything else

Indeed, yes, I think, ironically, were EA to buy up all licences available currently to Konami, Konami would still compete on providing a full and complete (and completely editable) experience precisely because no FIFA game has been as deep in terms of gameplay and options as RTWC 98. The very market model that EA is using (i.e., break games down along the lines of competitions, and provide as many football games in one calendar year as possible, instead of one total experience) would, in the above scenario, actually differentiate along positive lines any license-less Konami product from the EA efforts...

There is one thing wrong with what you have said. They only lowered the price of Madden 2005 for PC to $20. Almost all of the 2005 sports games are $20 on PC. SEGA didnt make a FIFA game so why is FIFA 05 for PC $20? The ESPN 2K games have never been on PC, that is not lowering to compete. The price of the PS2, XBOX, and GameCube price did not leave $50 for a long time. As of now the console versions of the game are still $30 on Ea.com to this day. Go check for yourself. Lowering the price on the PC version which had no competition in that area of the market is not helping them sell more. Keep your facts straight. THEY DID NOT LOWER THE PRICE OF MADDEN 05 FOR THE CONSOLES TO $20. Heck none of the 2005 sports games are $20 except for the PC versions. All console versions are $30 and up. So your statement of why they lowered the price is void. SEGA had none of their sports games on PC, there was no competition for that market by SEGA.

LOL. A PERFECT example of why we seem to come from different frame of reference on soccer gaming issues...

You can't read.

Read JUST what you've quoted me saying, than re-examine your post again. If you come back with something indicating that you still can't figure out why your post is a galactic waste of time, I'll enlighten you at that point. :kader:

LOL! Okay, let's break this down. Here's what I posted (and you quoted):

EA lowered their price for Madden AFTER release in response to a substantial loss of market share due to the quality and price point of ESPN/SEGA's NFL offering. In fact, they dropped it an unheard of $20 to the price point at which you can find it right now on EA.com.

For the non-readers among us, that's saying the EA lowered the price of Madden $20 - not TO $20, genius, but $20 from their initial price point - in response to the launching price and successful run of NFL2K5 at $19.99.

For you to:

(1) Misread the post

(2) Quote the post

(3) Come off arrogantly and ignorantly regarding NOT the post, but the straw man that you wanted to see

(4) and then, having been exposed as illterate, fail to step up like a man and instead walk away from that clear duty and responsibility to correct yourself

is in fact pathetic. Don't hide behind "I'm taking my ball and going home" cyber-sentiment. You were wrong, in a multiplicity of ways. Live with it, stand up and say it, and move on.

Your cowering in the face of being called to the carpet on begin so wrong just makes me think eve less of what you've posted, just makes your overall position here even less credible.

A person that does nothing but call people pathetic for the things they do is the arrogant one.

And here we are, like six posts later, and you still cannot admit that you were wrong.

I'm wrong about at least twenty things a day, guy. Writing a thesis and raising a family does that. But it's not being wrong, but knowing that life is about critical, fair analysis of self, other and ladscape, thats' important. If you can't say that you're (demonstrably) wrong here, on such a little thing for which you've been fairly petty, how will you stand in front of a doctoral advisor, or a company VP, or your kids or wife, and admit when you've made a mistake?

Pathetic. I'm done with you. Like I said, the proof is in the posted pudding, guy; WOW!

Ah. Now doesn't that feel better?

Well, I was referring to your chosen behaviour, and not to you as a fellow human being: we are all, as West submits, featherless two-legged linguistically-conscious creatures born between urine and feces; we all comprise the known totality of those naturally social, sentient beings who all too often are burying their dead prematurely, and who are far too seldom keeping track of each other's humanity...

In that light, if my criticism of your behaviour was hurtful, and not instructive, to you, I apologize.

Thats all I wanted. You of all people should know that talking down to someone will not help anything. It was hurtful. This is the way every post of yours comes across. Very demeaning. There was no way I was going to admit I was wrong as long as you were talking down to me. ONCE that started to lift, I was able to say I was wrong.

Apology accepted. :)

I think those post of his are demeaning to no one except to EA themselves, and unless you represent Electronic Arts I dont see how they should be demeaning to you.

But anyway; back to the topic at hand. What EA sports did to us football fans (american football) was not a service, but instead a disservice in my opinion. I could see this move of theirs backfiring in the long run as they will see that there is no competition, thus no need to make a better game. Imagine the lack of effort....kind of like what happens with NCAA 2003-05 after they revolutionized college football in 03 the game has pretty much remained stagnant since then because nobody has been able to come up with anything close to NCAA 2003....so in the end result we got no effort on EA's part.

If they dont improve NCAA 2006 significantly they could be hurting down the road

I understand how EA :f***: us with American Football. It was not good for the customer at all. I have not played madden since the SNES. I didnt even like that anyways. I played Joe Montana 95 buy SEGA sports on the Genesis. I started a long time ago with SEGA sports. :crazyboy: Then when the PSX and N64 came along I switched to the NFL Quarterback Club series. They were good at that time. Remind me alot of the 2K games now. Once the dreamcast came out I played NFL 2K. That game was the :sb9: when it came out. The PS2....the most holy of days. When the PS2 came out I waited for NFL 2K2. Never, ever, thought of playing Madden for the rest of my life. I would try the NCAA game every year since I like college better. Always would end up going back and playing the 2K's. When ESPN NFL 2K5 came out, it was American Football Heaven.

THAT'S MY MAN! Keep playing the game of REAL football fans.

People, EA is brainwashing you all. As 2 magazines in UK said (Gamesmaster and PSM2) "If you HONESTLY think Fifa is better then PES, you are either stupid or looking for attention"

EA is also VERY dangerous for REAL gamers. EA just makes cheap games for "casual gamers" and advertises it until they even get bored of advertising.

Madden is damn good, damn solid; I wasn't hating NFL2K5 though, as an alternative, in many ways just as good, gridiron sim. But that's all over now.

Lets be a PES fan for a second. Like how PES scores higher than FIFA. If madden is better then why isnt it the higher scoring game. Maybe PES isnt better, it is just the higher scorer. All other PES fans bring the review scores into play when arguing. All scores were taken from www.gamespot.com and were all for the same console(PS2) so there is no dispute.

NFL 2K2=9.5
NFL 2K3=9.6
NFL 2K4=9.3
NFL 2K5=9.1

Madden 2002=9.2
Madden 2003=9.0
Madden 2004=9.2
Madden 2005=9.0

Now PES fans do you see where your argument with PES reviews scores dont say a single darn thing. Every year SEGA made a higher scoring game but everyone says Madden is better, so what gives, I thought a higher score meant hands down that it was the better game....................oh yeah thats right like i have said before review scores mean Carlos :sb9: Facts talk people. The 2K series hands down beats Madden. According to how PES fans see it. The better scoring game is always the better game. So I guess PES is always better since it scores higher than FIFA and the 2K series is always better than MAdden since it scores higher. See how ignorant you people that bring up reviews scores are now.
