'Tesis', 'Todo sobre mi madre', and 'Lola rennt' are my favourites.

And 'Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi' (Spirited Away) for the Jap-Animation.

Shindig

Fan Favourite
Anything including Bruce Lee.

The Tit and the Moon. Yes. Not a porno. Just an Italian film about some lad who's obsessed with breasts.

Now that's culture.:hump:

Why does it have to be non-english to qualify as arthouse? I thought arthouse meant a movie not made by one of the big production studios. Otherwise it is a foreign film, and not all foreign films qualify as arthouse.

Lennon

Wants to be a Superstar
Il postino
La vita e bella
Cinema paradiso
Johnny Stecchino

All italian movies, they are EXCELLENT

101 Reykjavík (Icelandic movie)
Atanarjuat (aka. "The Fast Runner")
Trailor Park Boys movie
Capitães de Abril ("April Captains", Portuguese movie)
Whale Rider

why do you guys like Spirited Away so much, I thought it was mediocre at best. Easily Miyazaki's worst movie..

I guess Once Were Warriors sort of counts, more indie than arthouse though. Donnie Darko is another one, though borderline, as it was such a sleeper in cinemas.

I was gonna ask if 'Donnie Darko' counted as an art-house film... Very good film.

What about 'The Dish'?

'Heist'? It's got some big-name actors in it, like Gene Hackman and Danny DeVito, but you don't hear much of it.

I'm trying to find 'Spirited Away' in the uk. Can't find it anywhere.
