Which footballer was the reason you started watching/loving football? Who is it? :innocent_smile_1:

Mine was Cristiano Ronaldo. When I was kid I used to watch all his games when he was still in Man Utd because his dribbling skills was so awesome! His pace, skills. He was just eye catching!! My love for football started there!! :D

I started watching football because of football.

This. Started REALLY following Bayern around 99, but obviously it wasn't for the brilliance and grace of Giovanne Elber.

I am not sure if I can say that anyone in particular is the reason or at least, I can't recall now. I just remember that I became really interested during the 2002 World Cup.

i've got interested in football since a kid and i always loved batistuta
also zidane, maldini, riquelme, redondo, henry, bergkamp, rivaldo, ronaldo (the original), pires, figo

i didn't get to see much of maradona since he retired when i was 7 years old, but he's definitely the BEST i've ever seen

World Cup 94 is my first memory of watching a match and understanding what was happening. I remember the final, and Baggio's miss, vividly.

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
What filly said, is what I went through as well. Then watching the U.S qualifying matches, WC 98, and finally with my access to technology and streams, it evolved to being able to watch Ronaldo and then Real Madrid.

Growing up in the U.S, it was hard to get (if any) decent international football games.

I more or less began taking soccer seriously in 94 (before then it was all American football and basketball)

I thought Bebeto had a cool name.

Also this guy scored a scorcher against Italy.

And finally, Rivaldo was great.

Starting XI
The Dutch squad during the 98 World Cup, the standout player for me was Bergkamp. I was quite young then and this might sound a bit ridiculous, but i somehow confused Bergkamp with Beckham and right there i decided that Manutd would be the team that i support. Although i started following club football after Euro 2000. And to this day Holland and Manutd remain as the teams that i support the most.
