Belgium are in a group with Algeria, Russia and Korea. USA are in a group with Germany, Portugal and Ghana. How the fuck are you more confident about the USA?

This is why the British Colonies suck at a game that they don't know anything about...

I grew up in Belgium... I know what I'm talking about. It's my favorite sport.
US soccer has grown. They're underrated.

I'm more confident about the USA because it's a tough group, so they'll need to play really good, I think they'll play the best soccer they ever played.
They beat Portugal in 2002 with a weaker team... If you're optimistic, you have more chance to win. So USA can do it again!

"The British Colonies"... Well... USA has always been qualified since 1990.
In 2002 USA was in 1/4 final against Germany. They lose 0-1 and I'll never forget that German hand on the penalty area. Without a corrupted referee and without an unfair German, the score should be 1-1.
Well, it seems it's just like this... World Cup always been controversial.

Without corruption, the World Cup winners will be totally different... There's 100 of examples. I think it's (unfortunately) the most unfair sport.

I heard this season was the best of the USmnt. I watch the US and Belgium friendlies, it's only friendlies I know, teams can be really different during this World Cup, but I was more impressed by USA than Belgium. (Belgium only won against unqualified teams... Luxembourg, Tunisia and Sweden)

Anyway, I hope both teams will do a great World Cup.
And you know... In World Cup, anything can happen... This last match, Australia - Chile, 1-3, the same match could have been 2-2. (Bresciano was unlucky with this super shot, or I should say the Chilean GK was great). Chile deserved to win, but Australia was really close from the draw in my opinion.

I actually agree that the US looks very good, but I disagree that we're better than the 2002 team. Saying that really underestimates the talent we had in that World Cup. Young Landon Donovan and Brian McBride is a better forward line than Dempsey and Altidore. Friedel was far better than Howard, especially in that World Cup. And while I love Bradley, I don't think you can say that this current midfield is much better than the Claudio Reyna and John O'Brien pairing from 12 years ago. 2002 was the highlight of John O'Brien's career and while you may not know his name, he really was a good player who lost his career to injuries; in 01/02 he broke into the first team of an Ajax side that won the double and rode that momentum to the World Cup.

This also doesn't mention DaMarcus Beasley, who was definitely young and still 2 years away from this, but was brought in by Guus Hiddink to PSV in 2004 to replace Arjen Robben. PSV won the league his first year, where he started, and went to the Semi Finals of the Champions League, where Beasley played 12 games.

So I don't think it's clear cut that this is the BEST USA team ever, but I do think that we have our best player ever (Bradley), and we have a lot of good pieces that will enable us to have some success.
