My country India never qualified (once did in 1950, but did not have boots to play - weird reason), and never will in my lifetime at least.

at least India manage to qualify to the AFC Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar.

That should be good enough for recognition in Asian region to compete with strong teams such as Australia, Bahrain, & Korea Republic.

actually, was reading about a slightly similar situation with Zimbabwe cricket ... apparently Harbhajan Singh (an Indian player) noticed at the recent T20 World Cup that Zim were playing with amateur equipment (bats and such) ... so Bhajji decides to ring his contacts in India, and donate a bunch of professional gear to Zims ... great gesture!

Well, that's what the story goes. But Harbhajan is a nice guy, gets into a lot of controversies but it's alright.

We will play in the AFC Asian Cup, and for that the AIFF has actually hired the top 30 players from the Clubs, and will train for the months leading to the Cup. This might work, but the Powerful Calcutta clubs are against this.
