This is why I like football: you read all these comments and then you watch Ronaldo come back from an injury and score 2 goals in his Real debut.

I already wrote at least 3 times what I think about Ronaldo and what he's worth. I don't remember being this excited in front of a tv set since his last game for Barcelona. Ronaldo is back, magic is back, football is back and Real Madrid are playing some of the most fun, attacking-minded, gorgeous, magnificent, admirable, brilliant football ever. Just like their nº11.

In the 1 I was watching Ronaldo was top goal scorer with 8 goals & he scored 2 goals in the damn world cup final which won it for Brazil. Now if thats "nothing too special" then I don`t know what is. For a guy to do such a thing without playing much football before hand is amazing.

And you say he`s lost his flair, ball control and pace???? didn`t look like it 2 me when he was winning the world cup with Brazil or scoring 2 on his debut tonight.

WTF ??!!! I think all af you are not focusing anymore about what I`m talking about in this forum... What is trully the main issue here is about loyalty. Ronaldo`s great, sure, he scored 8 goals in the WC, magnificent of course, he is a god-like player, I also admit that, but the way he treated Inter, the fans, his teammate after all the support they gave him, it`s totally unacceptable. It`s like imagine you had a girlfriend, you treat her well, you buy her things, suddenly you caught her walking with another guy, and when you come to her, she just say "Excuse me, but who the **** are you ? I don`t think I knew you before". Without Inter his career would be over, he would never play in the WC, and of course he would never be able to kick the ball to score goals hadn`t Inter treated his injury. He should be grateful to Inter and their fans, not just easily leave them.

Ronaldo is NOT the best player in teh world. NO ****ING WAY. Honestly, think about it. Yes he scored 8 goals in the WC, and 2 goals tonight. Big f-ing deal. Unless he scores 20+ goals at RM this season and is the Ronaldo of old, he is NOT the best player in the world. He is a great striker on a FANTASTIC TEAM (Club and Internationally, pardon the pun).
What about Figo's performance? If he was returning from a 4 year absence, would you be saying he is the best player in the world? What about Zidane? Henry? Inzaghi? All outstanding players, playing outstandingly.
Are you basing it on goals alone? See Inzaghi of late.
Playmaker? Zidane
All around? Veira
Defensive? Campbell, Ferdinand, Nesta

He is not a complete player, and he is yet to prove that he is the most valuable player in the world.
I am not a Ronaldo hater, I am not a Ronaldo fan. I think I am being realistic.

Do not put those two in Nesta's bracket. They are both extremely good players, right up there, but not as good as Nesta. Nesta is the best.

hans i know what you mean & everyone knows its wrong. I was just saying to the people in here that attacked him as a PLAYER to shutup. The guy was shattered when all those injuries struck & the MENTAL toughness he mustve needed to get through all those fitness sessions & training everyday , it mustve been INTENSE! he doesnt deserve to be knocked & called **** ... as a person say what you want ( no difference anyway ) but dont critisize the guy about how he plays because you KNOW he is great.

Why is Ronaldo way above his peers? You must be right, man, Zidane and Figo are more complete, Inzaghi and Totti are scoring like hell. We, Ronaldo fans, must be all nuts!
You are a soccer coach, so you have to know that, in the professional competition played at the highest level, the difference between the value of the teams is very small. We can't say that Roma is better than Milan, or that Arsenal is worst than Real. If we had those match ups today, the result would probably be different from tomorrow.
I've seen Figo dribble everybody in front of him and score a goal, but he only did it a couple of times; Zidane can run and make the decisive pass, but he needs a quality finisher like Raul to put his team ahead; talking about finishers, Inzaghi is one of the best, but he can't do much without a Rui Costa or a Seedorf to feed him with great assists; Nesta is a giant on defense, but he can't do anything all by himself.
Ronaldo is the difference; Ronaldo can steal a ball, dribble everybody and score; Ronaldo is also a superb finisher; In his first times at Barça he didn't play as a striker, so I've seen him dish a couple assists. I've also seen him score a couple headers, score from FKs, PKs, shots from outside the box, you name it.
But, most importantly, he's the difference. He is a gem, one of those that only land on this planet every 20 years.
We've had Maradona, Pele and him.
People who've seen Eusébio play, say that Ronaldo reminds them of him. [Funny that most of you have never heard about one of the 8 best footballers ever.]

Ronaldo was very unlucky with his injuries. Had he stayed healthy and he'd be among those other 2 names without a doubt. Well, he still has 4 more quality playing years to convince us all, so sit back and enjoy!

Ronaldo IS the best player in the world. You ask any manager if they had any amount of money to spend on any one player I'd guarantee that just about all of them would say an uninjured Ronaldo.

Why were Inter so pissed off? Because they knew they lost the best player in the world. Okay his loyalty was lack but maybe he was superstitious about playing for Inter, he had nothing but injuries there.

This guy can score a goal out of nothing, without anyone to help him, even from his own half (see Barcelona). He can easily turn a game single handed. He wins games.

Brazil without Ronaldo struggled to qualify for the WC2002. Brazil with Ronaldo won the World Cup. Coincidence? 8 goals, the highest single player tally for about 30years?

Ronaldo is a very talented player. He IS one of the best in the world at full fitness. Whether or not he is THE best player, noone can judge.

However, injuries have taken a lot of years of development out of him. Without injuries, he could have been the greatest, who knows? But being difficult to injure is a quality in itself. A player with average potential, but one who trains constantly is probably better than someone who's got potential to be the greatest ever but is always injured and unable to train.

His disloyalty to Inter is what this thread is about though, not if Ronaldo is a good player, or if he's the best in the world or in history or whatever. The fact is, Ronaldo spent years sitting on his @$$ at Inter injured and collecting heaps of money for doing nothing. Hell, he even went to Rio every other week. So when he comes back to injury, instead of trying to EARn his wages for the last couple of years by actully PLAYING, he decides to leave Inter. He leaves the club which has for years put up with him and helped him in recovery, all while paying him generously and he shows his gratitude by leaving the club which put his career back on track and paid him heaps for virtually nothing. He didn't even go to his teammates after the transfer to say goodbye, he left without a word. So, yes, he IS the real asshole

Zidane I totally agree, but he is a midfielder, but Henry? giver me a break, Ronaldo is one of the best strikers in the WC, I say theres none above him. Just as good I might consider...

And please dont compare Zidane to Ronaldo, they play in totally different positions, both are the best at their position
