I've just read the RRP for Championship Manager 4, and it's a whopping £39.99! I thought game prices like these were a thing of the past on PC, but apparently SI are going to cash in on our addiction as best they can!

Research alone, how much will that cost having to go to over 100 clubs in each country, watching players, gathering contract information etc
Give them some credit they gotta work everyday on the game they work there socks off the create quality and then you moan when they raise the price slightly! Moan moan moan lol

They expect me to pay £40 for a fecking game I can download off the Internet for free!!!
They have researchers all around the World and they have heaps so it's not as though one guy spends 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year travelling around the world doing this.
It's just like 5 of you doing the EPL.

I'm sorry but i really disagree with this attitude anyone would think that they have asked you to give blood or break your leg!
So what you've got to give an extra £10!
I think everyone is over reacting, you don't know what its like yet.
I know they have had problems with the interface and that they have improved network gaming so that internet gaming will be quicker and more reliable but, just see what its like and don't pay for it if you don't want it.
But think about it, how much money did they lose on Cm01/02 because people wouldn't part with £20, and chose to download it for free they need this money to continue making the game.
Probably as usual anyway if you wait 2 weeks after the release the price will go down anyway so, don't know what you complaining about

£10 CAN make the difference between a broken leg and a perfect leg and the difference between 4 pints and 3 pints of blood!
But GTA:VC cost £35, and its alot harder to make VC than CM4 I presume.. whats wrong with SI!!

Vice city was released with glitches!

Championship manager must be one of the most boring games to make.
You have got to sort over something like 300,000 or more players checking every stat is accurate and that they are realistic
With vice city they get to design cars, cities, people and with all the comedy in GTA it would alsways be a laugh

unfortunately the £39.99 will have nothing to do with man hours, production costs or anything like this. It's just a case of games companies (EIDOS in this case, not SI as i said before - sorry SI) cashing in on a game because they know it's a "must have" title. This has been demonstrated in the past with £34.99 or £39.99 prices for Morrowind, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, UT2003 anmd others. It'll continue to happen to, with Doom 3 no doubt, and possibly Unreal 2 (although Unreal 2 will sell about 3 copies worldwide if they dont hurry up and get it out before Doom 3!!!)
Championship Manager is seen as a "budget" game just because it has no 3d graphics or EAX sound, which is why EIDOS have been selling previous editions at £19.99 or £24.99, so selling this one at £39.99 is likely to harm their profits, because I don't see them getting many newcomers to the CM legacy to fork out £40 for it. I've been with the Domark/Eidos/SI partnership right from the beginning, so far the only game i bought was CM2 on the Amiga, and I still think they owe me money for actually playing it!!! (it was possibly the worst made game ever)

40...... u will play it for at least a year..... maybe not every day, but lets say.......... 15 days every month... which means u will play it for 180 days that year.....

In Hong Kong, I buy a copy for less than 2 pounds.
No type err.
they are copies, but the game is fine. But I'm sure some people in HK still buy the real copy for the booklet inside...
Its all a conspiracy. Power to the people.
oh, but I'm interested in where i can download it. Might as well save a pint.

Even though i got the original copy of FIFA for free, i'm more addicted to my pirated copy of CM. That's the difference.
And researchers or not, i guess it's more likely they just get the correct spelling of names and History.

Really? £2!?! Why don't you buy about 200 copies of them then send them to ME and i'll distribute them to all of those who want a copy lol!
For £12 we could make a nice profit! You could download the game off KaZaA but I don't really like it especially with all the changing of description and filename etc etc
