why FIFA is like it is?

ok look. you cant say that pes 3 is better than fifa 2004. you kno why?

but where do any of the game makers say that they are trying to have the same thing in both games. if someone thinks fifa is more an arcade style game, thats no reason to critisize. How do you know you are right? how do you he is wrong? just cause you dont like his opinion doesnt mean you should critisize. I dont understand why people fight over which game is better, because EA or Konami never said that they were competing. its diffrent styles of gaming. no reviews compare fifa with pes. because you cantt. its diffrent gameplay style. its no use to compare. what if fifa had the same gameplay as pes. would you say its good then? then you would have to say its better than pes since it has all the licences. People look for diffrent things in games. I have both, Winning Eleven 7 and FIFA 2004. I personally perfer fifa, because of the graphics and licences and stuff. and football fusion. looking forward to it. but my friends, some, perfer winning eleven, cause they perfer the gameplay. diffrent games for diffrent people.


But if i have to say there is one thing i dont like about fifa....ts just slighty the shooting system. i cant seem to shoot without the ball curling. sometimes i like the curl. sometimes when i use someone like steven gerrarrd and i try to do what he does in real life the shot ends up like a beckham shot.


Is there any way to shoot a straight shot in the game?

I think you're wrong mate. If they were the same game you couldn't compare them, because that wouldn't make sense. They are both football games, and ripe for comparison. Of course EA and Konami are competing - just because they haven't said so means nothing. The fact that they are the two biggest football games does say something.

And I'm afriad you're wrong on the reviews as well. Quite a few compare FIFA and PES, if only so they can chat about how much they prefer PES. The newest CVG actually does a FEATURE comparing Club Football, FIFA and PES. Needless to say PES won with a 10/10 score.

You can't cop out and say "they're different styles of gaming". Why? Because they are both football games, trying to recreate the sport. And it is quite possible to debate which one does it better. Not that there is any debate among anyone with any sense of how to judge these things

Another great thing abt fifa 04 is u can chose day/night wich few pple mentioned that its a huge plus point.forget abt weather(doesnt understand why pple like snow) u can now relive the great derbies ard the world eg milan derby roman derbi d el derbi in spain they r all played at niight not like fifa 03 wher its like f**k playin these great games durin day

I've translated pzh's earlier thread into English if anybody had trouble reading it.

If you want to say Winning Eleven is a simulation then you haven't seen Association Football before. WE & Pro Evo 3 looks similar to pre-programmed robots running around the field of play which doesn't, in my humble opinion, represent real football. Also if you get a delight in striking the ball very hard without the aid of backlift forcing it to hit the goal frame then rebound a good 50 yards away then this is your game my friend. For myself personally this gives it an "unreal" take on the game unlike Fifa 2004 which has strong simulation values.
In a slightly twisted way it's like comparing a flight simulator to Space Invaders. Most people would find Space Invaders easier as no previous flying experience has been a requisit of the game.
EA Sports have spent a considerable amount of resource making the teams & indeed the onfield players as lifelike as possible by maintaing the correct licences to , pardon my street language, "keep it real". Konami on the other hand would be still using a dated computer graphics "engine" if it wasn't for latter day gaming consoles.
Another feature of Fifa 2004 that pleases me is the option of choosing the option of a night or day match. This is something overlooked by a mass of "gamers". Now I'm not particually interested in weather changes (snow has never appealed to me). You can now re-enact some great footballing rivalries such as AC Milan vs Internationale or perhaps the behemoth Rome derby that is AS Roma & SS Lazio. Unfortunately my Spanish geography is poor but I believe they have a "derby" there too.

Biggedy biggedy bong, wicked, innit, westside with gravy etc.

LOL thanks erg. yes they have they got madrid derbies(real vs athletico) and the real vs barca is as big as a derby. it would be awesome and thats why i like fifa 2004 because it lets me play these great matches
