Why hasnt' Beattie been snapped up by a bigger club?

OK we all know he hasn't done too good on the international team but in the league he is fantastic. A few years ago he had a great season and scored many goals. I thought it would be a one off, but it wasnt. He's had three good seasons now and has scored cracking goals ranging from solo efforts, free kicks, headers. etc.

So why hasn't a bigger club targeted him? He's only 25 so he has plenty in him yet and he can only get better playing for a bigger club. It would certainly help England.

What does everyone else think?

But Beattie IS there attack

and now he has a good partner, i think they hold on to him as long as they can.

plus they did get Le Saux from that deal.

I think it's a disgrace he hasn't had a genuine decent chance with the ENgland team.
I mean 23 goals last season ... and so far this campaign has proved it was no fluke and is among the top scorers.

If he doesn't start in ENgland's next friendly it would be really sad ... but Sven probably won't even pick him

nah he'll get picked. it's just that there are 3 or four players fighting for one spot. owen's a lock everytime...no one's touching him. and the other spot is between rooney, heskey, beattie, and i guess vassell. you know sven's gonna choose rooney. beattie deserves a chance and what's sad is that he's still behind heskey on the depth chart.

le saux gets shatted on everywhere but i think he's a good player.

who knows why sven has beattie behind heskey. maybe it's the chemistry heskey has with owen. or maybe he thinks heskey's a better player...maybe he think heskey fits better in his tactics..i have no idea man..

Basically Sven has two main playing styles.
The first half "not-so-adventurous" mode and the mid of second half "let's run at the defence mode". Of course this depends on the score.

Assuming Owen is starting, Heskey suits the first mode, Vassell suits the second because he has the speed.

So Beattie probably has to fight for Heskey's place. If his first touch gets better than he'll be chosen.

I think Beattie is chosen by the big clubs yet because of his first touch. He probably would not do well at European games yet.

Time will tell. I sincerely hope he gets better. This guy potential. What if Rooney and Owen get injured?

I remember him being linked with Milan last season.. Its kinda logical as Milan lack a striker who's tall and strong.. (at least thats wat the media said)

Beattie is class! Heskey isn´t..

Maybe Manchester United would be a suitable club for him in a few years.. ;) We only got Ruud and Forlán..

I remember the same argument about Le Tissier and he showed great loyalty towards Southampton.

However, in this post-Bosman era maybe Beattie will go when his contract is up.
