Why i don't play FIFA 2004 (even though I think the gameplay is a HUGE improvement)

1. The interface is TERRIBLE. You have to go through the most unorganised interface to get to the actual game. Sadly, it's not worth it. NHL series has the cleanest easiest to use interface - LEARN FROM THEM!

2. I don't want to play FIFA 2004 cuz I can't change my controls. Even though I have a joystick, I still use keyboard. I CAN NOT PLAY WHEN RUN IS 'E'. For me, run MUST be 'W'. I can't play like this (I shouldn't be waiting for a patch)

Those are my 2 biggest complaints.

PS. What were you thinking by not letting us customise our controls? Imagine if Battlefield 1942, or DOOM 3 was released and you couldn't change your controls - how gay is that?

The game itself (gameplay, graphics & audio) are the best ever, but the interface IS THE WORST EVER!!!
Does anyone know if its possible to modify it ?

BTW, this game is best played with a gamepad such as PS2.

I agree that this game is a HUGE improvement (I said it in my original post, but it's too bad the interface is so crap and that I can't configure my controls).

Anyhow, the reason why i replying to my own post is because, after writing it, <b> i decided to play the PES3 demo, and laughed when I realised I was able to configure my controls in the PES3 DEMO, and not in the FULL version of FIFA 2004 </b>

Come on... MAN... You got to change your habit of using the W key to sprint.... Must learn to use the E key!!!

At first... I also very annoy... Coz I am also used to the W key....
But I try and try to use the E key instead.... Guess I learn how long??? I took 1 entire week!!! During that week... I was damn annoyed!!!! Coz in any other game... I will also use the W key to be my sprint button.... Now I have change already... so I hope EA sports don't try to change the sprint key back to W again next series!!!!!!

Look at it man, not only its locked at 800x600 (which is sooo 90's), you also have to scroll around every little thing to see it fully ... like the league table ... all you see if 3 1st colums, and you have to scroll for about 10 seconds to get to the other end to see the points, **** that, I wanna be able to see the whole damn table on one screen without scrolling anywhere.

It's not a big deal though. Just because the game has a crappy interface it doesn't mean that the game itself is crappy. It is the action on the pitch that matters.
I mean, the Championship Manager games have always had crappy interfaces, yet they have been extremely popular.

the menu screens neede to be moved upwards because the 'point of touch' of the mouse is right in the centre of the icon - anone else get what i mean?

Try reading text at a screen resolution of 1280x1024, on a 17" monitor; you need binoculars to see the writing properly!!

Menu screens of 800x600 are great on a 17" monitor. Most people tend to have 17" monitors.
I like the menu screens, no garish colours- nice design. I don't like having to scroll much, but you can't have everything...

Dude, you've got to be kidding...I've got a 17" true flat screen and 800x600 is chunky as hell - it IS so 90's...800x600 was designed for 15" screens - even laptops these days run XGA (1024x768) as standard on 14" screens!!

Championship Manager 4 interface rulez! You can see the whole league table - it's beautiful man - and easy on the eye...so much more professional - if FIFA had that interface it would rule so much more...
