Why Is It That......

......that the English media, prior to today's match were calling Liverpool a team in 'crisis' and saying Houllier is on his way out - but yet there is no mention of a team that themselves have spent money in the past few years, but have won nothing (unlike Liverpool), got knocked out of the Champions League qualifying in midweek, and now have one point from 3 matches but are 'not' in a crisis? They also bought Lee Bowyer and didn't get any flak from the media, and yet when Houllier wanted to buy him everyone was up in arms at Liverpool wanting to buy a 'criminal'. They also have Bowyer's mate, Woodgate but no one says a thing.

Who is this team?

That would be Bobby Robson's Newcaste United, of course.

Now, am I sh!tting on Sir Bob or the Toon - God no! Unlike the panic artists in the English media and some ppl on these forums I know that three matches is nothing, and that the Toon will very soon get their act together and challenge for a top three spot - what I wonder is, why is there such a big fuss made about Liverpool, but when Newcastle do the same things or are in similar situations there's not as much talk.

Am I implyingsome paranoid conspiracy - no, I just find it really interesting and I'd like to hear some of your theories on why this is.

well.. the toons ain't in the same status as us... how many titles has they won over the years? as we still has the most titles won, that's why when we have a poor start people will start to get on us... this is only my theory...

about the criminal bastard bowyer... well, we were trying to pay 10million pounds for him.. whereas, newcastle got him for free... maybe that is the reason...

i realized that when the toon got bowyer and not so much a whimper came out of the media. could be they accord him more respect as opposed to that of say, a frenchman?

just like what sir bobby said after the match... it is only 10 days into the new season, not 10 matches or 10 months into the season.. with the team that we had i'm sure will pick it up later...

all i hope is for houllier to keep up putting the same 'audacious' lineup week in week out so that the lads would be able to really gel. i'd keep biscan in the side based on his performances so far and i'd be chuffed if him and smicer can keep on dishing out more of those passionate and solid displays.

granted we wont have it easy at times but he must realize that to win anything we must be able to grit our teeth and keep chipping away; we cant win anything if we dont look to attack the opposition what with the firepower at our disposal.

last season, I said basically the same thing, that Sir Bobby gets a 'free ride', and I was savaged by the "Toon twins"

I learnt my lesson, Newcastle supporters are passionate people and they love their Sir Bobby.

Maybe because the manager is french. I dont wanna think like this but what two teams in england, get the most hammering, it is only when arsenal were taking everyone apart in october that the media were bashing manchester united.

Liverpool have won i dont know how many trophies, and still dont get much sympathy from the media, when in bad form.

Or maybe its just focusing on teams who have the tradition of great football in the past, newcastle have less expectation

testament to our club's stature that even tho we havent won the league for more than a decade we're always one of the favourites to do so come every new start to the season. so inevitably we get shot down when we take a tumble......crisis..ooooh
