Why do Lampard's deflected goals count as his goals, but Crouch's deflected goals count as own goals?

if it's a light deflection...the goal is named to the player who kicks the ball first...but if the ball trajectory is seriously changed by the deflection it should be an own goal...my opinion :)

if you are referring to the goal that was credited as an own goal by Given, that actually is true. You can watch the replay in the liverpool fc-thread.

Nice that he was credited the goal against Wigan:)

I don't think a keeper can have an OG, but that's just me.

He's expected to fling himself at the ball even if he has no chance of saving it.

No, I'm just saying Lampard should be held to the same standard as Crouch.

Crouch may be a bum, but Lampard is a Chav. They're even.

Had the chance to talk to Oliver Kay of the Times after the last 'dubious debacle' against Wigan and he went right out in admitting that there is a media agenda against Crouch and that it shall continue.

First they will ignore the fact that he's been playing very well for us and his massive contributions to the improvement in our form and our climb up the table. Then they will put intense pressure on his inability to score ignoring the fact that he's just made the step up from Southampton to the reigning European Champions, and that most of our current crop of players have needed more than a season to adjust accordingly to Rafa's system, which does not favour the individual brilliance of one at the expense of the team.

Then when he scores, they will try to take their goals off him or put it down to sheer luck or the flux of wind movement or the impact forwarded by the edges of the individual piece of grass.

It's a big deal to me as it was the Press Association who overruled the decision made at the game. It's all part of the agenda to not give the lad his dues. But I'm certain the D.G. panel will have to award it to Crouchie as it fits the rules. And why was Wayne Rooney's shot that was not on target and actually heading away from goal credited to him in Euro 2004, after it bounced in off the keeper's head? That was the stupidest decision ever, but he was the world's media darling at the time. And let's not go into Lampard's recent deflection or the actual count of Joe Cole's 'goals'.

Loved Crouch's response when asked "Are you claiming it?"

"You trying to take all my goals off me?"

Crouch is not England's saviour. That's why.

No one beats Deco when it comes to deflected goals. I don't know if he's scored more than 3 goals that ain't deflected for Barca.

Yea very true. He kicks the ball, it deflects on someone, goes sky high and hits the net. Happened a couple of times. In my opinion, if the ball is kicked in the direction of the goal, doesnt matter whether it deflected or not, it should count as a goal for the goal who kicked it.

I was thinking about calling you a moron, but then I realized it's just absurd joke (like me saying I'd prefer Fletcher to Ronaldinho in the other thread). Good one :)

If the ball is originally towards the goal, and then a player deflects it, and the ball still goes into the net, this is counted as the goal of the one who shot the ball.

But if the ball is not towards the goal originally, and then a player deflects it, and the ball goes right to the net, this is counted as an own goal.

So, if a player shoots the ball towards the adboards behind the goal, but the keeper moves and tries to save the ball but unfortunately put the ball into the net, this is the keeper's own goal.

I know! I've been thinking the exact same thing.
