Wierd KeyBoard Problem

Theres this strange prob wit my fairly new pc several keys on my keyboard are performing other functions the alphabets on the keyboard ar OK and perform as they are supposed to but holding the shift key to get the @ character gets me " instead, and i get the @ character by holding shift+2 which should normally be getting me the " character. In other words holding shift+2=@ and Shift+' = ",Shift+3=# instead of giving me the pound sign. This sort of things happen with other keys as well.

Is this some kind of configuration problem, and is there anything i can personally do to correct this? because i tried switching to an old keyboard i had before and connected it to this pc and the keys are messed up as well even though i didnt have a problem with the old keyboard+old pc making me think this is probably not a keyboard problem. Any Ideas?

hiya jigger... hmmm... let me see... what os are u using? winxp? ok my guess is that you have choosen the american keyboard setting, instead of the uk keyboard setting.. ok if u r using winxp go to date, time and regional setting, choose the regional and language options, then choose the language tab, and click the details, now see whether if the default keyboard selection is us type keyboard, if yes then delete it and add in your new uk keyboard.. if everything goes well it should fixed your problem... ;)
