Windows PX, 1500 MGZ, and the highest detail level, and the game looks GREAT! (read!)

I hadn't played FIFA 2002 for three weeks now before I acquired a new computer. My old computer was about 333 MGZ, and with Windows 98. Though I did have Voodoo (don't remember which one, though, but I think it was Voodoo4) Thus, whenever I selected the highest detail level in the options menu, the game was extremely hard to play, and not smooth, so I constantly had to lower the detail level. Even with that, the gameplay looked extremely fast even on the SLOWER mode, and in particular, the ball speed killed the game.

BUT,

I just acquired a NEW computer, with Windows PX, 1500 GHZ, and probably with a new Voodoo card (I wasn't the one who was buying it, so I wouldn't know which number). I installed FIFA 2002, went to the options, selected the highest detail level possible (since the processor is 5 times faster than my old one), and went on to play a friendly game. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!! The game was EXTREMELY smooth-going, VERY realistic, the graphics were TERRIFIC. You could see the grass was SO REALISTIC.. And, because of the added smoothness, the gameplay became a little SLOWER. The game just looks AWESOME all of the sudden. A new computer makes so much difference! So, I have to say sorry to everybody whom I insulted because they thought that the game was terrific. Why? BEcause the game DOES indeed look terrific.

The computer AI all of the sudden became stupid, though. Don't know how that could have happened :), but I suddenly see myself winning by lots of goals on the World Class. In particular, it is the defense AI that requires lots and lots of improvements. As I said, on the Slower mode, the game is NICE and SLOW. The ball physics, especially from computer's lobs STILL SUCK, but since the ball speed reduced a little bit, they don't piss me off that much now.

So, if you have the resources, get a NEW computer. The game looks as if though the best FIFA game ever. Period. Definitely not as smooth-going as it is on the slower computers.

Hi Russian Rocket,

I think you're right. I have now PII333MHZ, Voodoo 2 card, GeForce 2 32MB and I run the game from the virtual drive.

I found that the graphics are not great even though I set it up to the highest detail ever using either one of the graphic card. But the game is okay for me because I use virtual drive which is 50 times better than the original one using CD-rom.

And I've tried the game at my office using PIII800 with the latest Intel graphic card. It really AWESOME. Different from my home even though I use CD-rom at my office.

The conclusion:
I'll buy a new computer at least by January because I don't have the feel anymore playing games with my slower PC.

If you don't mind, could you post a few pics here because I want to know the difference with my office one. I'll get Pentium 4 too next year. Watch out. Thanks for the tips.
