I just got a new system which is a Dell Pentium 4 with Nvidia Geoforce 128MB. The game kicks to the desktop when the actual match is loading. When I run Fifa 98, it runs in software mode (including Fifa 99). When I run Diablo II, the screen blanks out when I try to start the game.

Does anybody know what the problem is? I have not put anything edited in the game folders. Your help is greatly appreciated!

FIFA 2002/01 can't run w/more than 1.99 Ghz

hi, i heard that a lot of people have problems running FIFA 2002 on their machines. well, i had a prob myself. Installation - OK. Program start - OK. Changed options and choosing teams - OK. But right at the moment where the game should start FIFA 2002 (or 2001, same thing) it kicked me right back to Windows. So I browsed the install folders of F2k2 and found a nice little tool. You should find it here: [drive]:\Programs\EA SPORTS\FIFA 2002\Support. The name: FIFA 2002_EZ.exe. This tool told me that i have a cpu speed of "-1775". so i thought "minus 1775"??? Where the ... is my 2.53 GHZ??? It looks like the game checks these things before it loads the game. So my cpu failed! A pentium 4 - 2.53 Ghz :f***: . Then I thought: "underclock" your body a little bit. And I found out that Fifa 2002/ or 2001 runs on a P4 cpu with not more than 1.99 GHZ. (2.00 Ghz is already too much). It really s**** to sacrafice almost 600 Mhz just to play the game but I think it's worth it. Hi, EA Sports: why didn't you tell us all? Hope I could help you.

I had the same problem....I changed the cpu speed from bios and the game loads up fine.

When the PC starts hit "delete" to go to set up.
In the bios go to cpu settings and change the cpu speed from 133/133 to 100/133...save and exit.
The cpu speed will be reduced to 1.9GHz and the game will load up.
You can always change it back to 133/133 anytime during set up.

when i go into setup, i can only change the cpu info from normal to compatibility. Then, the computer runs very slow. How else can I change the cpu speed?
