That's what happens when you play negative Greece-like football and try to defend for the entirety of the game, apart from Trinidad every other team thats tried it in this WC has been punished.
Poland never got a sniff of the German goal for the whole second half and now they're the first team to exit the tournament.
And David Odonkor you bloody legend :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:

great match in the end, Poland sucked playing so defensively but the germans definitely had a really intense performance.

very impressed with Odonkor, he was the one pushing Germany to the win....
nice subs by Jurgen btw.

Congrats to Germany for getting past the group stage :jap:

Those last fifteen minutes were intense. Germany deserved to win, but the Poles sure played their hearts out. If the U.S. shows half that much heart I will not be disappointed on Saturday, win or lose.

NEUVILLE!!!!! When he came in I made the aside comment that he would create the goal because he would be nothing but energy. He wasn't at all, but at least I was right about the goal. DEUTSCHLAND!!!!

Yeah I was impressed by Odonkor too, but you could kind of tell that he didn't have world class skill. His energy and speed off the bench were what turned the game around, and that final cross was perfect, but you could tell that he just wasn't quite in that top class of players in terms of skill; there's a reason why he comes off the bench is what I'm saying.

Odonkor was the super sub that woke the Germans up, for a while there it looked like they would be satisfied with a draw, but he came on and started running up and down that right wing and feeding energy to the crowd and his teammates. Great sub by Klinsmann (Neuville as well).

Deserved win for Germany (Y)

I know Poland played theirs butts off but when it comes down to it Buruk saved their asses from a 3 or 4-0 beating. Poland showed me absolutely nothing in both games they played.

Germany vs. Ecuador should be a really good match. I'm not quite ready to consider Germany a contender though. If they get a win against Ecuador that will change though.

Tell me the reason Friedrich is starting. Schneider HAS to start at RB, there should be no doubts about that after tonight's game.

I agree.
This was the first time I saw him play and the way he got into the match showed he has loads of will and commitment, and really wanted to make an impact in the game.....
sudden sprints, spontaneous crossing, but there were moments in which he showed his lack of experience by losing the ball kind of childishly.

still, being only 22 I can see his game improving if he's given the chance to compete at a high level more often.
unfortunately Dortmund are kind of an average team these days....

and Vince is right, Friedrich is too freakin poor (N)
