World cup 2002:
PROS:It was the world cup! HUMONGOUS national flags waving in the stands. You could shoot a midfield shot with wicked curve and fake out the goalie. Fireworks go off after every goal.
Overall gameplay kicks azz compared to 2003. Get to play in japan

CONSometimes curves would be a little unrealistic.
No club matches. Not very in-depth.

2003:
PROS: 16 Leagues from around the world plus national teams.
Veryin-depth with formations n such. Highlight reel after every game. Club championship mode

CONS: Hell will freeze over and you will be struck by lightning 16 times before you will make a shot farther than 15ft. away from the box unless its a free kick. Not very fun gameplay.

Actually I have made shots from far away, you have to be very very lucky and one-time it from a pass, very hard and you need luck.
