I don't particularily like Rugby either but then you can say that footy is just 22 men chasing after a ball.

Different people have different opinions.

It's been said before and ill say it again
NASCAR is the worst sport there is.

Hockey would be a good sport if you could actually see
the puck when you watch it on tv. The only time when
you know that someone has scored a goal is when some
light turns on behing the net:kader:

As for American Football; it is the best sport in the world (to me)
next to soccer:)

I am guessing you don't watch hockey or understand it...At all?

You can easily see the puck, but if your to lazy follow a fast paced sport there is always American football, golf, ect.

anyway my favs to play and watch are.

Hockey
Figure Skating
Rugby
Lacrosse
Tennis
Cricket
Football(of course :) )

the ones i hate are

Basketball-Nothing to get excited about when someone scores.

American Football-It was ok to play when i was in school, but i just don't find excitment in it.

anything involving animals-Especially bullfighting :kader:

Golf-It's actually pretty cool to play, but i don't see how anyone would want to watch it unless they have insomnia and need a way to fall asleep(watching golf will do the trick)

Bikes/Skateboards/Surfboards/ect never seemed exciting unless someone crashes and gets hurt.

Auto Racing-Agian nothing i can watch unless someone is crashing.Nothing like watching those motorbikes blow up and people flying all over the place :rockman:

Olympics-Worst event in history only 2 good sports in it which i already mentioned.

Do i understand hockey? Yes i do.
Do i watch it? NO

Without the replays on tv, there is no way
anyone can actually see how the puck goes in.(most of the time)

I was wathcing a game the other day and even the anouncers
needed to look at the replay several times to tell who
should have been credited with the goal.

Im not the only one who thinks this. I remember a couple
seasons ago, i think fox used to actually highlight the puck
when they showed games on tv. Im not sure that was a good
idea, but they realized that it was a problem when watching
hockey on tv.

I always see the puck.

It's a black object on white ice, it doesnt take a genius to watch a hockey game.

The classic example of your typical American Anti-hockey comment. If you properly understood the game, you'd be able to read the game and obviously predict where the puck will go.

Following the puck doesn't take a genious, it's black on white, it doesn't get much easier than that.

Hey, I'm bored!

I will include posts that ridicule sports as a vote that sport. Eg. "cricket is boring" will be a vote for cricket.

Exactly,First off as already said black puck + white surface,do you want the damn thing neon orange!?!?

I have played goaltender for 10+ Years now and when i practice i use a "WHITE" puck! Try playing with a white puck then go back to the black one,It will look like it is glowing!

and when play by play men don't know where the puck is,it is usually because it is covered by a group of players shielding it from the veiw of the camera,so they don't know where it is at.

You people dont like Football(gridiron)
I dont like Hockey

GET OVER IT!

There has to be something behind it when hockey
consistently gets the worst ratings on tv among the
so-called "major sports."

I have NOT played goaltender in hockey all my life, so i cant see
the puck. You have, so you can see the puck.

One more thing
Why was Ottawa planning to declare bankruptcy?:hump:

i have no problem with you disliking it at all, everyone has there own favorites, but the fact that your saying you can't follow the puck,it just doesn't seem right,I have many friends who hardly ever watch hockey(only when they come to my house :shades: ) and never had a problem following the puck or the game for that matter.

it just seems odd,that's all.

EDIT:Just re read your post and the way you are saying it,That must mean Football is not a popular sport just because it isn't a big sport in the US.

I love how americans think just because they don't like it automaticly means it is not popular at all.

First thing, Canada pays more attention to the NFL than we do to our very own CFL. Toronto is just waiting to get a franchise, the 5th largest city in North America should have an NFL franchise.

Now for the Ottawa problem, they really screwed up their money management. They are $300 million US in debt. $210 of it is due to their arena, which they built with a loan. The team still makes a profit of $5 million US a year but the debt on the Corel Centre is killing the franchise.

BTW, Ottawa didn't declare bankruptcy, they filed for Bankruptcy protection, there's a big difference between the two.

You are rather ignorant.
It gets the worst ratings on tv in the USA. In Canada....it's #1.
What's the difference? People understand hockey, and breathe hockey here. Most teams in the USA (excluding orginal 6 teams) are young franchises in cities with no hockey background. Most of the fans have no idea what is going on, or what to be watching. In Nashville, Carolina, and other places, they actually had hockey tutorials on the big screens for the fans.

The "something" to it is a combination of a few things:
a) it's a young/new sport in the US (for most cities)
b) it's not hyped up with war analogies
c) it's not American
d) there's all ready established American sports all year round to take up the TV ratings
