World's Favorite Videogames chosen by the people

Check out this new project where gamers across the globe make their top 25 favorite games of all time (1st=25pts, 2nd=24pts, ..., 25th=1pt), and those results are compiled together to decide the world's favorite games.

Here are the current results that involves 889 gamers so far.

Other top-lists are also available (by years, decades, genres, systems and even a Top 10 most wanted) for you to mess around with.

It's a really fun concept, especially if you're a longtime gamer (and bored ).

I know there is some great games in the list, but Deus Ex has to be higher up.

It isn't called Mario 3 because it's the third best Mario game. Having it behind other ones is a complete crock.

I also think, when it comes down to it, GTA: San Andreas is the best game I've ever played, and seeing it like 10 spots below Pokemon and Goldeneye is pretty shameful. San Andreas is the console defining game for the PS2, which is either the greatest console of all time, or second greatest behind the NES.

I also agree regarding San Andreas. Head and shoulders the best GTA game. 4 is much prettier, but just doesn't suck you in, in the same way. GTA 3 and GTA Vice City were just titles that were unfinished, unpolished versions of San Andreas I played it on PC though, not PS2. San Andreas and Deus Ex, are head and shoulders the games I've been the most addicted to completing in single player mode.

I disagree regarding the NES/PS2 thing though. I think the SNES/Genesis era was the golden era of console gaming.

I feel like the NES and the PS2 are the only consoles where you would walk into a girl's dorm room and she'd have one. And not like right now, but when they were popular and cutting edge. Those two consoles were cultural phenomenons in a way I don't think any other console has been. As for the games, you might be right about SNES, although to be honest most of the games I was playing at the time on SNES were awful except for LTTP, which I only got because it came with the console.

that's how you judge how good a console was?

MegaDrive! my first console! didn't last too many years, coz we got the PS soon after, but playing Mortal Kombat and FIFA International/95 on Sega kicked sooo much ass!

If any FM/CM game is in there I'd say it would be CM01-02 or FM 2005.

To add to that, I think the thing is, with games like World of Warcraft, they've been added and modified so much since the original, that the game has changed loads.

In these sorts of polls, sometimes I think games like FM/FIFA etc should be included as a series. More so FM than FIFA (because the changes in FIFA version to version can be more substantial-ie. 2d to 3d, complete different controls/gameplay etc, and can have a bigger impact).

Not necessarily how good the console was, but how popular it was and culturally relevant. In that aspect I think the NES and PS2 are head and shoulders above the rest.

I think if you're talking socially relevant, than it's hard to go past the impact the Wii has had. It's almost removed itself from the stigma of "gaming" all together.

TBH, I don't think the Wii is much of anything. It's fun to hit a tennis ball back and forth when you have a friend over, but most of the games are legitimately terrible IMO.

I think Wii is great for when you have people that aren't gamers around.

My parents, friends that don't play games much etc, will all pick it up and have a go.

There are some decent games out there on it.

Mario Kart was always fun man, I used to play Mario Kart 64 every night before going out. I hate the Wii controller for normal games too.
