WTF, KONAMI are arse backward!!!

How the hell can they release the PC version of PES3 on PC DVD? :kader:
I would like to pimp slap the person who make such an idiotic decision. They are alienating potential buyers who don't have a DVD drive on their PC. This would be a majority of people. I just don't understand the reason behind the decision. Do they want the game to sell? They better have the CD option as well.
And by the looks of the screenshots of the PC version, the game probably will not have option to change the resolutions. Another stupid move by KONAMI. I believe that the PC version is just a direct port of the PS2 version. Nothing more nothing less. It's ashamed that a company that can create such a beautiful footie game be so inapt on the marketing and selling side of things.

I thought it was the majory that has them DVD drives... Come on, it's 2-0-0-3. You can't even buy a PC w/o a DVD drive these days. I don't think you could 3 years ago.

People are spending hundreds to upgrade their PC for when Half-Life 2, Doom 3 come out. Ya'll should do the same if you wanna play PES3. :D I don't think DVD drives are that expensive. You can buy'em at $50...

I'm not trying to cause an arguement or anything here. Don't flame me. It would probably take 5 or 6 CDs to fit this on. I don't know... Peace.

If you were to take a poll, a majority of people do not have a DVD drive on their PC. What is the need for a DVD on the PC? If I want to watch a DVD movie, I rather use my DVD player or my PS2 for that. The problem is KONAMI are so shortsighted. The content of the PES3 is under 2 GB. So two CDs is enough. Heck FIFA fits into two cds and it has alot more clubs and options then does PES3. CD drives are the standard drives for PC. DVD drives are luxury items.

Are these the pics on the official site? If you check them out they are the same as the earlier pics from C&VG but whoever made this POS flash site reduced the quality so the super slick thumbnail page didnt take even longer to load....
you would think anyone trying to pimp their game would want the best quality pics possible on their site...

How long have Konami been around? Sorry, how the hell have konami managed to stay around this long?
DVD=stupid decision all the info gets dumped on the HD
Are there any other PC games that are DVD only?

Anyway here's a pic comparison, I'm hoping its just their dozy webmaster and not a reflection of teh final game.

I believe KONAMI release those screens to C&VG. The official website is pathetic once again. I bet they will not update until next year when PES4 is released.
Take a look at this screen below. The texts are straight from the PS2 version. They look like those from ISS Pro 2 when being played on a PC emulator. If they are going to port the game to the PC, at least use the power of the PC and enhance the game to look better. I ponder what they are going to do with the controls for the PC. http://www.gamershell.com/imagefolio/gallery/Sport/Pro_Evolution_Soccer_3/11.jpg

I was looking for an official PES site a couple of weeks ago just thought I wasn't looking hard enough, who is the promotional genius that decided to launch the website the day the game was released?

Yeah was going to post a link to those screens, res looks nice n high but the text looks like it was drawn in crayon :)

Sharkman - Yeah, seen that. Not getting my hopes up though. Think its most likely to be a typo judging by the quality of teh rest of the site.

Personally, from the PC screenshots I've seen (the ones I have on my website) I'm more than satisfied with the level of detail - you can almost see individual teeth!!! There's zero reason to assume there won't be a resolution option in the game so I don't understand where you got that from.

Also, if the game is only available on DVd there are programs you can download which will rip a DVD to your hard drive just using a CD-Rom drive! Don't believe me? Just do a search on Google. You can buy them or d/l them for free. DVD-Rom format shouldn't stop anybody from playing the game if you use your brain.

I was basing my opinion on the screenshots at gamershell.com
http://www.gamershell.com/hellzone_Sport_Pro_Evolution_Soccer_3.shtml?q=pro+evolution+soccer+3+PC

The quality of the graphics seems to be a better looking than the PC version. But if you look at the texts, they are the same as the PS2 version. I hope they do include a resolution option. But this is KCET first attempt at the PC. I am more skeptical of the final product since they this is their first attempt.

The point about the game on DVD is, I shouldn't have to do all of those things to play it. I should be able to install the game out of the box and play it. There is a harddrive on the PC and you can dump all the data on it. KONAMI still thinks that a PC is like a PS2. For a company that is trying to gain more customers, KONAMI sure know how the hell to make it difficult for people to enjoy their games.

@Dajuice,

Calm down , Pes3 will not be the only game that will be avaiable on DVD.

Second : Pes3 is not famous because of the graphix it's the gameplay.

If you want better graphix play fifa2004.

The Red Devil
Konami did the same with Metal Gear Solid 2 Solid Substance didn't they If I remember correctly.

Those without a dvd-rom will probably pirate the game off the net unfortunetly.

I'm going to order myself a new LiteON DVD-Rom as soon as possible, the DVD laser in mine as burnt out, only wants to read CD-Rom. =( Ah well.

I am sorry but I must be the only one who sees the game on DVD as a potential selling problem. I was thinking from a manufacturer point of view and doing my best to make it easy as possible for people to purchase and use my product.

If PES3 is not so concern about the graphics, why would KONAMI even consider porting it for the PC? After all, why do people play games on the PC. It is because the graphics are better looking than on the consoles if you have a decent system. After all, the console market outsells the PC market so much when it comes to sports games that it is not even funny.

Why can't I have great graphics and great gameplay?
