Wasn't Portillo on loan? Or did we have a buyout clause at the end as part of the deal? Can't really remember.

is it important at all? your club is always getting rid of young players and buying crappy nike- or addidas-commercials "stars".. :mrpimp: I don;t agree with that kinda club management..

Well, for a start, it makes a lot of difference. If they are getting rid of him, or instead loaning him out to give him experience and match practice. I mean, on the other hand if he had stayed, what chance did he stand against Cassano, Ronaldo, Nistelrooy and Raul? Even if they had not bought Cassano and Nistelrooy, he still would have gotten very little play time, and as I imagine it, not been QUITE as effective as Van the Man, wouldn't you agree?

Either way, Adidas commercial stars, are performing this year. Not consistently, but things can only get better. (Fingers crossed that comment won't come back to haunt me).

I would hardly call Emerson and Diarra Adidas-Ad sort of players either, really. Cannavaro is a very effective defender at his best, and Ruud is a goal machine, while Robinho and Marcelo ARE young talents themselves.

That is all. :brow:

Mate, i agree partyl with you, but only partly.
Diarra and RvN are my favorites among the other players of Real. They're the best.
Casano, Ronaldo and even Emerson don't have a bright future in team like RM, either because they're too old, or because they're crap in the Casano's case.
I think Raul, RvN and Portillo would have been good attacking choice. But if the managers prefer Ronaldo and Casano to run around without doing anything- then let Portillo go! :-paul:

Heh, I sort of see your point, (a mindless flamewar is the last thing I want), but the issue remains that Ronaldo is potentially one of the best strikers in the world, and when he hits top form you will want him playing instead of Portillo. Of course, all these injury niggles are getting in the way, which poses the case of will he ever be back or not, to his unbeatable form- I mean allegedly he IS losing some kilos :P.

Cassano I have not seen playing enough to form a proper opinion on really, but his attitude lowers my respect for him greatly at the moment- being egoistic enough to claim that you should be chosen over RvN, Ronaldo and Raul, in his case, is sheer unplaced arrogance, in my opinion.

Emerson together with Diarra has solidified our game a little really, and well,I suppose the aging stars will have to be replaced at one point or another, ala Marcelo and Robi Carlos, for a start.

Besdies, I'm pretty sure that had Portillo stayed, his playing time would have been next to nil, unless of course there were significant injuries to the usual suspects. That would have somewhat ruined his career really, not wanting to attack Chelsea, but I draw them as a comparison, buying/keeping players that would have undoubtedly been first-team anywhere else on the subs bench.

I don't know, perhaps Madrid will be wanting Portillo back once he's gotten some more experience from playing elsewhere, and if Ronnie et al are too old and he has proven himself, who knows?

*shrug*.

exactly.
actually, i don't underestimate Ronaldo. and how come- he's the best world cup goalscorer of all times today.. :-paul: However i think he won't ever return to his best form. I hope those words of mine won't turn into truth, but you see - hi sproblems go beyond being injured. I think he doesn't have any wish to fight for place in madrid or elsewhere. He did EVERYTHING in this game and he seems to me to be kinda bored of all football gear of the younger players.
As for Portillo- i don't really know where's he playing right now. last time i noticed him, he was in Brugges. :taz:

I know, Ronaldo has kind of disappointed me- his comments regarding being "bored with 'soccer'" seemed a little odd to me.

As far as I know, Portillo is on loan to Gimnastic de Tarragona, though as I say, I'm unsure about the pacts of the clause of his loan.

Ronaldo's comments are actually pretty normal :D Just think about it- this guy played first-class football for more than 15 years, achieved nearly everything in that game.
So, if i were him, i'd be bored too. :clapwap: :sun:

Armand Traore, 17 from France. Arsenal left back.

Fast, good on the ball but needs to be more aggressive. He's currently Arsenal's 3rd left back after Gael Clichy (who is only 20 himself) and William Gallas.

Wenger and his coaching staff rate him very highly, some people say he's better than Ashley Cole was at that age.

That's bollocks, how can you get bored of football, even if you've won everything (about 5 years ago). The guy is a disragace.

Starting XI
0m1 - We sold Portillo to Nastic with a buy back clause like we did with some other players we sold. I really really doubt we will buy him back, I dont see doing so well that he will win a move back here.

adobe_sun - We just got Marcelo and are trying to get 2 other young players ( Gago and Higuian ). The reason why we have older players this season is because of Capello, he needs to win a title this season in order to stay so he wont risk playing young players he will go with experienced players. Ronaldo is not a great professional....he also has not nearly achevied everything club wise, no CL, 1 uefa cup, 1 league ( with us mind you ). He moans and bitches as we have seen in the past. He had the skills to be the best but his attitude is his problem, man you would think I am talking about Cassano:D

In Madrid Mata, De la Red, J. Garcia, Adan, & Soldado, look to be really good for the future. Now if only we could incorporate them into the first team better than we have in the past with our young players.

Ah, ok. I was sort of cut off from the world of football for the start of this season, so I wasn't too sure what's going on. The fact that he wasn't allowed to play against Madrid a few weeks back made me think Portillo was on loan, so I suppose a buy-back clause would make sense as well.

And as you say, the likes of Marcelo, already signed and Higuan etc. does prove that we're looking to the future. De la Red's goal in the Copa Del Rey really shows potential, I have a sneaking suspicion this lad might turn into something special. Adan and Garcia also sound promising although as you say, they will need more first-team football, something that appears to be rather difficult at the moment, with Capello having "20 starters", as he so often says, and from where I'm standing I can only agree with him.
