Dont blame the ****en ref ,Yugoslavia are really stupid ,they ****en kill with their tackles and they couldnt even hold a 3-2 lead in the last 3 minutes .Screw them ,its their own fault .As for england ,Romania deserved that penalty shot ,in the replay ,you actually see that Neville tackles the Romanian player instead of the ball ,so shut the hell up ,your team played crap so dont blam the refs or say stupid conspiracies that make no sense .

I don't think any normal person thinks that a ref shod be attacked like that one was. It was aweful.

But i doesn't mean we should excuse bad decisions. The refs may not be paied, but they might still favour one side. They are unlikley too be 100% neutral. Didn't u want either Spain or Yugoslavia to win. Not even slightly.....?

How do u know if the ref was in favor of one team?So he booked many Yugoslav players.Well they deserved it ,they were animals out there ,they would tackle the player instead of the ball .I dont go for either team,but the french ref was fair ,he did the right decisions .

Well maybe it wasn't intentional on his part, but that penalty was bull crap bad call! which makes it 3rd bad pk of the tournament. Still it didn't really matter so I don't understand why anyone makes a big deal about it.

Maybe the ref was a huge football fan and didn't want to see the boring, can't score, Norway team go in? And don't get mad at me if you're from Norway, their game vs Spain I fell asleep watching it and Im sure I wasnt the only one.

ref did his job...got what he deserved afterwards..both teams qualified...both r going out after the next game...but they still can pass the ball unlike the so called three lions... but mostly important:

Now the Dutch have to play those dirty Yugoslavs. Yugoslavia can't hold on to a lead, but that won't happen on Sunday because Van Der Sar will be back in goal, so the Yugoslavs won't score.

Mabey some Yugoslavs should have been booked. But in my opinion, diving/faking is much worse that a dirty challange (unless that challange is an attepmt to end another players carreer, which is very rare)

The ref should have booked abelardo for diving, actually he should have sent him off for it as it was very seroius and allowed spain to win and so qualify. He should have booked Mendieta for hitting Stojkovic. People may think i hate spain, but it is just becasue they seem to be unprepared to use all of thier tallent, and prefer to dive to try and win penalties.

All diving in the penalty area should be a red card. If it is not spotted by the ref, but can be seen on television, then the players should be banned for the next two matchs. It may sound harsh, but it has to be done to stop cheaters like Abelardo and Inzaghi. Can't all strikers be like Niall Quinn, i have never seen him dive.

How do u know if it was a dive????It could be that he actually tripped him and secondly ,How can u blame the ref ,he was an a bad angle and its tough to judge .Us ,the viewer ,we have instant replay to see if a player dived or not ,the refs dont and they have to act quick .I wouldnt blame divers like Inzaghi,Abelardo etc... because they are taking risks ,look at Shearer ,he got a yellow for diving and that Romanian player who i foprgot his name ,was also booked for diving wich means he wont play in the next game because of 2 yellow cards .All im saying is to stop blaming the refs .

but i still think Abelardo should be banned for one match, his dive (i saw the replay again today on eurosport) was disgraceful.

The spanish had been looking for penalties throughout the 2nd half, and if 'LARDO gets banned it will show everyone that they will be punished if they try to trick the ref.

I watched some matches in the English womens FA cup and none of the women would have dived like abelardo who is a fat (LARDy) useless fu*ker who should be given a large push off a high cliff if Spanish football is to advance.

No wonder Lois Van Gaal had to buy half the Dutch team when he joined Barcelona.

Ps before u start saying the spanish teams were so good in the champions league...etc:

1) there were only three good spanish players in the competition.

Raul, Farinos and Miguel Angulo

2) spain had 4 teams in the competiton:

RDC Mallorca - Didn't even get thru the qualifiers

Barcelona - lost 3-1 to chelsea, and only won it on aggregate thanks to Figo's away goal (he's Portugese) and Rivaldo's skill (he's Brazilian)

Valencia - A skillful team, but only got to the final due to Cladio Lopéz's and Kily Gonzalez's skill both Argentinian (also mabey Farinos and Angulo (see point one)

Real Madrid - the Champions and a spanish all star team.... Well not exactly. Their only decent spanish player was Raul (mabey Morients when he played)

Face it Spain is so overated and play like clowns, always falling on the ground and crying.

Guardiola has a name that sounds very nice, but nothing else really.

The best team with many spainsh players is perhaps Valencia. But they are selling all of their players.

Face it spain is always touted around as the best team ...blah...blah...blah...
but the are always overated, i'm not saying all of thier players are crap, just some of them.

Woah, Polishpower on the defensive, something not seen very often. But rightfully defensive as the comments made by chris was just ever so slightly biased.
And why have yugoslavia had three players sent off by three different refs in this tournament, and what about all the other yellows ? And no Mrkovic, it's not one of the many west vs east conspiracies that you've dreamt up.
And I agree, the ref made a bad decision, but he had to make a decision there and then, he didn't have replays to judge it better, nor a better angle.
Now I'm not sure if this is allowed or what, but why don't refs consult their linesmen before giving a penalty, it'll only take a minute.
