Yeah, I never liked BMI... I always go by body fat percentage.

I am 6'1", 190 lbs (86 Kg) and my body fat is 11%.

My BMI is 25.1.

The BMI is only used by the medical profession as an indicator of whether a person is overweight/obese as a muscular person with very little body fat may appear obese (as muscle weighs more than fat).

Due to the inaccuracy of the BMI, a secondary test may be conducted, such as a skinfold thickness test, which measures the subcutaneous (lying just beneath the skin) fat at specific sites of a person's body, such as the triceps (the back of the upper arm). As well as this test, there is BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis), where a harmless amount of an electrical current is sent through the body. The body's ability to conduct an electrical current reflects the total amount of water in the body. Generally, a higher percent body water indicates a larger amount of muscle and lean tissue.
