Soccer leagues....
Right, I feel I must express my opinion on the world's different soccer leagues.
I agree what most have said, English (or more accurately, British) football is the best in the world. At least the most fun to watch. Now, in Iceland we can watch the Icelandic, English, German and Italian leagues, and sometimes we see something from the others as well. (Brazilian etc...) Anyway, German football is generally boring, since the players prefer not to take any chances, but play heavy defence, and when they finally score, they rush back to defend their goal, to ensure their win. Icelandic football is like German football in slow motion. Now, Italian and even more so south american football is booooring. Ok, not boring perhaps, the games can be really fast, really exiting, but usually it's 5 secs of play and then a penalty/free kick/someone lying (<- geddit? lying??
on the ground holding his leg, and then suddenly he's back on his feet shouting at the ref for not blowing his whistle. I mean, look at Ronaldo. In WC france, didn't it get on your nerves how he kept falling down and, oops! accidentally onto the ball? You'd NEVER see anyone do anything like that in England!
Ok, maybe I was too harsh, maybe I was generalizing... There are exceptions, of course. Dortmund's Lehmann springs to mind in the game vs. Rangers when he (quite clumsily, but still did it) put up the goal that ensured a penalty shootout for Dortmund. Those who don't know Lehmann, he's Dortmund's goalie, and he was playing a striker at the end of the game
Now that's risky!
And so on... But, generally, English football is the fastest, most brutal, most fun-for-the audience.
Right.
Someone's going to be angry now....
